Beautiful location with mediocre food
We received a warm welcome with delicious cocktail at check-in. Staff was very pleasant and room was spacious. The hotel has a private dock which was very convenient for our day excursion, they simply picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel. The location is beautiful and the hotel is newly built. Toiletries in the room were a nice natural quality. We appreciated the in-room refrigerator. Staff shuttle guests around the hotel and grounds in golf carts, which worked well for us because it wasn't crowded. Hotel guests have free access to the beach club, which has a nice infinity pool and many comfortable beach chairs and fire pits.
Things that we felt did not meet the standard of the most expensive hotel in La Paz: non-existent or hard to reach towels at both main pool and club pool. No service at the pool, we had to wait long at the bar to put in an order. Food stops at 4:30pm at the pool, too early for our kids. Food at Steinbeck restaurant was mixed. Rib eye was great, catch of the day just ok. Breakfast at the club was not good. They served stale pancakes, juice that did not seem home made, and toasted Wonder bread. No fresh croissants here. It was so disappointing we were sad to pay for it. One morning we ordered room service breakfast. Scrambled egg was fine, but they forgot our toast and there was no fruit or anything special about it. This hotel is not for foodies. We recommend the Italian restaurant in the harbor, can't charge to room but had nice food.
