Helpful staff and great breakfast ingredients left in the fridge each day. Location is just perfect.

"Excellent value."
The room was much nicer than expected. If I travel to Venice in the future I would most likely stay in the same place. I highly recommend. Interior was spacious and modern.

Staying on a yacht was cool but the facilities were not what I was expecting. Staff were often not available, sometimes they just left with no one working at all making it impossible to ask for anything. The wifi was often turned off and not usable, especially when staff were not on board to enable it.

Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa

"Okay but very very boring...."
Its overall OKAY. Not the great and fantastic but if you just want a room to sleep in and thats all then this is the place if you have money to burn. Overall they stick to single matresses to make a king size bed and the middles are buldgey which hurt your back. Nice paint artist design on walls and ceilings. Lighting in room is very poor. Washrooms are okay no issues their. This hotel is very difficult to get to unless you pay €100 to a water taxi as its not on the main Venice island. The hotel does have a water shuttle but it is only to take you not luggage or suitcases. This hotel is a old church converted into a hotel. Very dark and not alot of possitive energy from the place at all. Breakfast was awfull enough to to put something in your belly but no variety.

Generator Venice Hostel

Fondamenta Zitelle 86, Venice - Map

"Cool hostel, tight rooms"
Being a Generator, this hostel is obviously super swanky - the lobby/bar/restaurant area is great and pretty lively at all times. It's a big hostel, so not a very home-y vibe. The receptionists weren't the friendliest bunch and my 10-person room was REALLY tight (no room for luggage - lockers are good though). Be warned - catching the Vaporetto boat to get to this island is a bit inconvenient (and pricey!). BUT, the views from the room was amazing. It was also really nice to sit by the water in front of the hostel and watch the sunset over the city. Overall, I'd recommend it for a 1-2 night stay, but not any longer than that.

Hotel Giudecca Venezia

Corte Ferrando 409 C, Venice - Map

Comfortable room, although, as with so many continental hotels, no facilities in room for making hot drinks. Very quiet - no external noise. Unfortunately this quietness was broken on our final night when occupants of room (?rooms) directly above us returned at 1.00am and continued to make noise for next hour or so. It took hotel receptionist three visits to ask them to keep down noise before we were able to get back to sleep. A good location with good eating places nearby. Breakfasts excellent and staff very helpful.

"Spacious clean room with good breakfast spread."
Although the hotel is located in Stucky Island, the hotel provided boat shuttle every 15 minutes. Away from the hustle and bustle in the evening for a great wind down after hard days of fun and walking.

B&B Ca' Isabella - Venice Hotels

B&B Ca' Isabella

"It Will Grow on You"
When you stay at a B&B, you are staying in someone's home, and you can never forget that. They always have more restrictive atmospheres than hotels. That said, the longer I stayed at Ca' Isabella, the more I liked it. It has the kind of plumbing that is unique to Venice, and it takes some getting used to, but it makes up for that by having an excellent location. It is not located on the main islands, it is on the island of Guidecca, just south of Venice proper. Because of that, it does not have the hoards of tourists roaming the sidewalks and alleys. Guidecca is more relaxed and comfortable. Hotel doesn't have a lift (elevator), and the rooms are not on the lower floors. They served a full breakfast every day, including meat. The people are pleasant, especially the older woman. The beds were comfortable. There is a public laundromat two bridges away, beyond the Palanca waterbus landing. Look for a "T" sign over a shop. That is a tobaccoist (cigarettes), and they sell waterbus tickets, each good for a set amount of time. We bought one-way tickets to get to the hotel 7.5euros each, two-day tickets for 30euros each, and one-way tickets to return to the train station. From Palanca pier, take waterbus 2 to get across the lagoon quickly, or waterbus 4.1 to take a slower route to one of the San Marco piers. Make sure waterbus 2 is going in the direction you want. The list of stops and the direction is posted in every pier, but some piers have separate waiting covers.

Sunny Terrace Hostel - Venice Hotels

Sunny Terrace Hostel

Giudecca 392, Ramo della Palada, Venice - Map

"Easy to access Venice from this hotel"
The hotel is actually in quite a good location which a map doesn't suggest. Easy 5 minute walk to the Palanca water bus station (when you know the way) which will take you pretty much everywhere you would want to go with the routes that stop there. The hotel staff were brilliant, in the group I went to Venice with there were no Italian speakers but all of the reception staff spoke very good English and were really friendly and answered any questions we had. The actual room was quite large and clean with a desk and chairs which we didn't expect but the rooms are definitely 'no frills'. From talking to other guests we gathered that nearly all of the rooms are without air conditioning which is something to bear in mind with the high humidity in Venice. It's also worth mentioning that you have to hand your room key in every time you leave the hotel. Once or twice we were given the wrong key back when we asked for our key which is something to bear in mind if you want to keep valuables in the room. Overall though we would use this hotel again as its great for the price and the terrace is a really lovely feature which we used a lot at night.

"Good location - but that's it"
Best thing about the Stucky apartment was the location - but I wish I'd paid the high cost of staying at the Stucky hotel! Disappointing accommodation and overall experience. At check-in I was asked for cash up-front and didn't have enough so had to be walked to the nearest ATM. (Was there for business and couldn't make myself available at any other time). Apartment was clean and comfortable but let down by dull decor, no shower and non-functioning TV and oven. Daniella, the host's representative was helpful when I met her at check-in and helpful in arranging water taxi.

Pocket Guide: La Giudecca, San Giorgio Maggiore Adventure Sport Hotels

Ten minutes by waterbus from Piazza San Marco, the quiet residential island of Giudecca, is the place to escape the crowds. The only monument of note is Palladio’s church Il Redentore, focus of a major festival in late July. The atmosphere is typically Venetian and there are a handful of restaurants.
