Art and Art Deco in La Condesa

La Condesa has a bohemian vibe, making it popular with artists, students and intellectuals, and this is reflected in its architecture. Predominantly residential, La Condesa mainly dates back to the 1920s and has some fine examples of Art Deco and Art Nouveau buildings. Head out from your La Condesa hotel and wander along the leafy streets to just take in the impressive architecture of the early 20th century.

The other main attraction of La Condesa is its atmosphere, reflected in the wide range of bars, independent shops, cafes and hang outs, where you can really soak up the true feeling of Mexico City. Much of the action is concentrated on the streets of Michoacán Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue.

Sightseeing in La Condesa

On the borders of La Condesa are two parks, both well worth a visit. Like much of the neighbourhood, Parque México to the east was planned in the 1920s as a focal point for the neighbourhood.

To the west, the Chapultepec Park is the largest in Mexico City and home to a number of popular tourist attractions including the Castillo de Chapultepec, home of the National History Museum, the Chapultepec Zoo – famous for its resident pandas – and the National Museum of Anthropology. Both parks are also great places for a simple stroll, giving you a break from the relentless pace of the Mexico City.

Stay in a hotel in La Condesa for a first-hand experience of everyday life in this bohemian corner of the city.
