Upmarket hotel which is an integral part of the Kyoto train station, so very useful for train travel. Restaurants pricy in hotel, so breakfasts we enjoyed most were at the Isetan country house cafe and evening meal at Saredo on Shichi-Jo. We had 6 nights here and travelled to Nara, Osaka and Hiroshima, using the Japan Rail Pass and the fantastic Shinkansen. We loved the Isetan department store and there are lots of choices for eating out here, we preferred those outside, but they are an easy option, the shopping at Isetan is great, the Avanti department store nearby is fun to look round but a bit young for us.
The room was very comfortable, the view a bit dull over looking the building and a charge for the coffee in the room meant an overall 4. It was quiet and we slept very well.
The biggest hotel room in Japan. The room is similar size to the North American room size hotel. The location is right below the Kyoto Tower, and next to the Kyoto central station (bus and train). You practically can go anywhere from this station. They have prepared the buses to go to the temples from the station, you just need to wait in line for the bus. Everything is here, restaurants, Porta (underground shopping area), the Cube shopping area. I highly recommend this hotel. I will stay at this hotel if I go back to Kyoto again.
The hotel is close to the main train and subway station which has an enormous underground shopping centre. It is also within close proximity of the main communications tower that has a viewing platform with an excellent view of the city. ATM's are also close by. It was a very pleasant stay.
Local is near the JR station.
Staff are nice and willing to help.
It was very strange as there is no free drinking water or water heater provided but ice machine with a beverage machine at some floor.
There room for 3 people is too small, especially the bathroom, and we even cannot open 2 luggage at the time.
The room was spacious and clean with large public baths. The staff was very friendly and always welcoming. It was a quick walk to the main Kyoto station, hub to all types of transport, with lots of shopping and dining facilities. Highly recommended for a comfortable stay in Kyoto.
I discovered the Izuyasu ryokan to be a wonderful place to stay when visiting Kyoto. The staff were very polite and friendly. The room was very clean, spacious and quiet. The futons were thick and comfortable. The traditional Japanese breakfasts were very good. The air conditioning was wonderful. The baths were clean and always seemed available. Last year we stayed at the Hotel Granvia which was very nice but in the future I will choose to stay at the Izuyasu when visiting Kyoto.
The second-largest terminal in Japan and one of the most modern buildings in Kyoto, the station houses a shopping mall, movie theater, hotel, and department store. Centrally located, Kyoto station is close to the business district and just 2 km away from the Kyoto National Museum and the Sanjusangen-do temple. Just 6 blocks to the west at the To-ji temple stands the tallest wooden pagoda in Japan.
