The Wing Kylemore

The Wing at Kylemore House is a recently renovated and redecorated three bedroom apartment tucked away into the historic Kylemore House. The Wing has two double rooms and one twin room all tastefully decorated. In addition to this there is a bathroom with a walk in shower and a large spacious living area and kitchen dining. Enjoy the spectacular views of the lake and mountains from the front garden and within 15 minutes drive you will find yourself at several different sandy beaches and old fishing harbours perfect for a evening of swimming after long days hiking the diamond Mountain in Connemara National Park. Letterfrack village is approximately 10 minutes drive from this house home to the Connemara National Park and the Connemara Sea Safari. In the other direction a short drive away is the famous village of Leenane and the extremely popular Killary Fjord Cruise.

"This house is an excellent example of the Georgian style built in the late eighteenth century by Lord Ardilaun, a member of the Guinness family. It was constructed as a shooting and fishing lodge overlooking the picturesque Kylemore Lough. The house retains much of its historic fabric particularly noticeable in the fine original doorway. The older additions enhance the house and retain some timber sash windows and slate roofs. The iron gates and the elevated setting add to the architectural quality of the site." Lovely quiet location, tucked away behind a main house. Clean, modern, well equiped. Two steps into the apartment, elderly might need a hand managing this. Some groundswork being done but didn’t impact our stay. Definitely would recommend and we hope to visit again.

Enchanting spot
My initial impression of the property wasn’t initially great as it looked like construction work was under way. However when we stepped inside it really is a fabulous apartment. Very spacious with high ceilings, large rooms and I can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere so fabulously kitted out with everything you’d need, down to the last detail. It was lovely to arrive to fresh flowers, milk and cookies on arrival. Another very welcome addition was a golden ticket to a local pizza restaurant which gave us 20 euro off our bill, which was really nice. It is remote, but the setting is gorgeous and despite my initial impression we’d definitely come back here. Many thanks to the owner.

The property has historic significance. Although the property is under renovation, the 'wing' was perfect. We were close to Kylemore Abbey and Letterfrack and an easy distance to Clifden. Altogether a wonderful stay with all amenities we could require in place. Highly recommend and would certainly return.
