Disappointing Stay in a beautiful resort
The stay was an utter disappointment. Very very noisy guests, loud music, screaming and shouting and loud parties. Impossible to relax and enjoy the mountains. Some guests were even driving up and down with music blasting from their cars. Check in was good and security at the gate very friendly. Depending on your unit you have to carry your luggage from your car a fair distance to the chalet. They should get golf carts to assist with this. The resort should really clamp down on noisy guests day and night.

Cockroaches and spiders
Within 15 min of checking in our cottage, we found 3 monster cockroaches roaming around the kitchen, bathroom and entrance. There were also big spiders in their web, which means the cottage hadn’t been properly cleaned before we checked in. Furniture was broken, there was no AC and the bedroom ceiling fans hardly ventilated the room, so It was very hard to sleep comfortably at night. For a 4 star resort, this was below average for my expectations. Check out time was 10am, we asked for an 11 am check out and reception agreed. At 09:30 am, the housekeeper was standing outside our cottage, watching us, waiting for us to leave. I had to go speak to her to tell her we were not leaving until 11 am. She was stunned and appeared to not know what to do. I had to tell her 3 times that we were not leaving the room for another hour and a half.

heavenly location shadows all other aspects
This is a classic location, location, location resort. Not that its other aspects are bad. The cottages are really nice and comfortable, but the location is so amazing that everything else is shadowed by it. We enjoyed a lot both the horse riding session and the walk to the nearby falls. The only weak spot is the food. Resisting buffets (which did not seem too tempting), we had to eat all our meals (which were pretty mediocre) in the charmless cafe. One night we ordered steaks which came out too done and tasteless. The two of us who protested, received excellent steaks as replacement - and I wonder why one needs to protest in order to receive good food. Other than the food, I would give it 5 stars, so perhaps this is ideal for self catering families.

We booked for the mothers day lunch at 12.30 however after having our starter and soup when we got to the main course all the vegetables were finished, the chef did bring us roast potatoes but nothing else. We were advised that you were expecting a large party but I feel that this lunch was under catered and certainly not worth R165,00. When we were leaving I asked if there was somebody who could help us get our luggage to the car as we were 3 elderly ladies and it was difficult for us to carry and pull our cases over the grass, nobody arrived. Other than the above we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt that the chalet was very comfortable and well appointed.

It was a great vacation except the 1 chalet we had (booked 3) the downstairs toilet had a really terrible stench. We could not even walk past it if the door was open. Had to call maintenance and only the next morning did they sort out as it was late. I also had a problem with the cleaner in my chalet who had a terrible attitude. Infact it stank more than the toilet so to speak. When we spoke to her she just totally ignored us. I had to call the supervisor who I must say came very promptly and apologized. Other than that everything else was just perfect and we really had a great time. The resort is spot on when it comes to entertainment especially for the kids.

Horrendous Resort
The most terrible treatment we have ever come across from any Resort or Hotel that we have been to. We were first allocated to a most horrendous and filthiest room. Then the service from all sectors of this Resort was pathetic. There was this particular lady by the name of Smangele at the breakfast restaurant who was extremely rude and unhelpful for the entire stay. She does not have any personality or any hospitality at all, she is full of bad attitude. The quality of food was an absolute disaster. We will never set our feet on this horrible Resort. We had an awful stay, period.

Used to be great...
At check-in, they couldn't find my booking, although booked and paid in February 2016. They blamed the booking agent (hotels.com). Resort has visibly deteriorated the past 16 months. Not well maintained at all. White linen and towels old, grey and full of holes. Kitchen blind fell off when trying to close, blind in bathroom can't open unless tied to the window. Went for spa treatments, spa not clean, they do not clean bedding after each client. Upon checkout additional fees were added to my account.

The staff was friendly and helpful, the food and service was good and we enjoyed the horse riding. The resort does need some work to upgrade it as it has an air of neglect about it; it was rated as a 4star establishment but definitely not feel like one. Guests are expected to do an inventory of the crockery, cutlery and towels in their chalets on checking in and checking out, I have never encountered that in any other 4star establishment and I found it insulting and a waste of time and energy. The resort has bikes on the premises, when the kids went to get some and were told we have to pay to ride them - that seems a bit extortionist. We tried to book a spa treatment when we went to the spa it was deserted, we went to reception to ask about what was going on at the spa they promised to come back to us, which never happened. We had cold water the first night and the following morning, after reporting it to reception it was fixed. We also had stomach bugs, which I believe was from the water because after buying bottled water we felt much better; I suggested to the hotel that they should tell people when they check in or book that they should bring water. Despite the above we enjoyed our stay and loved the quiet and beautiful scenery.

Family Reunion
The place and setting of the resort is beautiful and well kept. The stafff was friendly. Spacious to have family getogthers.Execellent trails and alot of entertainment to keep one busy. The only negative set back we experienced was the pools. I think the pool has been newly revamped/painted and amongst our family and me included had 3 nasty slips/falls at pool for babies. It is very slippery and deceiving. The big adult pool after the steps also has a steep incline where one can slip as well. Other than that it was lovely.

Grossly overcharged and overrated
It was very disappointing. We expected a 4 star chalet instead we were greeted by a leaking roof on chalet no.18 when we checked in on the 25th Dec 15. We were offered a bucket for the leak and a round of drinks instead of another chalet in a good state of repair. As if that was not enough, the kitchen blind does not close, the flying cockroach in the bathroom, the single coach cushion slips under ones back because it is that tired. The chalet is in a desperate cry for redecoration because it is SO dated for a 4 star resort it's embarrassing! I don't even want to start with the attitude of the staff at the Be Spoilt Spa! This place is so overrated it's sad. It cannot even compare to the chalets of Ezemvelo KZN in the Berg, Didima and Giants Castle. Which costs far less than Alpine Heath. It fails even more if compared to other 4 star apartments that we visited like Protea Hotel, North Wharf which we visited end of November 15. In fact the money we paid is almost the same as the amount we paid for the 5 star apartments we have been to. This place is GROSSLY OVERRATED AND OVERCHARGED even for the festive season. I am glad we did not bring our kids and the rest of the friend circle. The little rating I am giving is for the staff because they tried their best under the circumstances and the food which was okay! Needless to say that WE will not return and I am sure THEY will not miss our business!
