First rate hotel, worth making Durban a destinatio

Pros: The service, the breakfasts, the restaurant, the location, the common areas, the decor, the art, the pools, the views, the room
Cons: The singer in the bar downstairs was terrible
Location: Don't bother. The restaurant Isle Meurice very nearby is good but not great
We expected to spend some time looking around Durban and the area but spent all our time in or near the hotel instead.

Pros: la continuité dans la perfection globale : on est vraiment bluffé !
Cons: une wifi qui ne peut pas prétendre à un usage professionnel
Location: le quartier de Durban qui bouge et monte dans le coté festif
un endroit idyllique, un personnel parfait et qui évolue en permanence, une direction exceptionnelle, une restauration a la fois variée et pourtant, originale et remarquable, bref, que du bonheur

Most comfortable and relaxing stay.

Once more, it was a very memorable stay: great staff (attention, behaviour, helpful), two gorgeous pools! One of the most beautiful terrasses - very good breakfast, grand selection! Also the curry buffet is wonderful.

The Royal Treatment

Had a wonderful stay @ The Oyster Box. Property is beautiful; food was delicious; staff was knowledgeable, friendly & very accommodating. Room was amazing. Included towel warmers, floor warmers & cute little monkeys that would peep in from time to time. Note: while the monkeys are cute they are still wild animals, so follow the precautions the hotel staff advises. Be sure to take in the entire hotel...library, light house bar, high tea, welcome reception, movie room, The Grill (fine dining restaurant) and so on. Pool was fantastic! Access to beach was simple & secure. Even gave us going away goodies. ;) Definitely recommend staying here if you have the opportunity!

Pros: Das Essen im "The Grill Room" und die Invasion der Affen zu Frühstück und vor der Abenddämmerung...
Cons: Subjektiver Komfort im Zimmer (Stoff, Geräuschdämmung)
Top am Meer gelegen und wunderbar im Kolonialstil gehalten, versprüht das Haus alt-englische Eleganz. Die Ausstattung der Zimmer passt dazu nicht ganz - statt Gardinen gibt es z.B. verschieb- und verstellbare Holzlamellen - eher hip als klassisch. Die Zimmer (wir hatten "Deluxe Sea Facing") sind nicht sehr groß, aber ausreichend bemessen, auch die Ausstattung ist sehr gut - incl. schon montierten Adaptern für europäische Stromstecker und eine gekühlten Flasche Sauvignon Blanc zur Begrüßung. Essen, Getränke und Service im Signature-Restaurant "The Grill Room" waren auch für europäische Ansprüche sehr gut, das "Ocean Terrace" schnitt da bei uns etwas schlechter ab. Erlebenswert war auch der "High Tea" am Nachmittag mit toller Auswahl. Beim Frühstück vermisste man eigentlich nur ein wenig dunkles Brot oder feste Brötchen, alles andere war (bis hin zu Austern und Sekt) in sehr guter Qualität verfügbar. Insgesamt also ein sehr zu empfehlendes Hotel an einem sehr schönen Platz in Südafrika

Very good reception ! Welcome drink , a lot of information, no parking problems,they park your car ! We got a bottle champagne and wine in our room for our wedding anniversery.. Perfect breakfast ! Beautiful room Very good spa

Sheer Luxury

Pros: Friendly staff. Great food.
Cons: See above. Also the TV channels were very limited, especially for English speakers.
Location: Beautiful location in Umhlanga, by the beach and lighthouse. Durban is a bustling city and there are game reserves within a couple of hours drive.
We had a Garden Loft room which was beautifully appointed and had the added benefit of a visit by a family of monkeys every morning. The staff were without exception charming and helpful. If you stay there, prepare to be asked by every single one how you are every time you see them. You aren't allowed to open a door or press a button for the lift. The food was of a very high standard and the breakfasts offered the widest array I've ever seen. One minor quibble is that the lunch, dinners and room service include mainly some very rich and fancy stuff. Again the quality is great, but my wife prefers food on the plain side and her options were quite limited. Outstanding in every respect.
