Very disappointed
Koh lanta and Klongdao beach are my highlight of Thailand so far. The beach is beautiful and the bars (especially at sunset) are amazing. It feels like paradise. As for the hotel, let's start with the positives. Location is spot on with beach access and a short walk to bars on the road behind, and the beach end pool is decent with new decking laid. However, a big proportion of the hotel is in disrepair and little sign of work to put it right. We stayed in a family suite around the top pool and it was way past its best. Very basic facilities and a bathroom which never looked clean. The buildings were mainly wood and much of it looked rotten and in desperate need of replacement. NB The rooms nearer the beach looked better for couples/smaller families. The bar and beachside restaurant were no better. Staff with little motivation and an area desperate for a face-lift. Furniture was tired and worn and no interest in smartening it up, apart from when a function was on (think it was a wedding). Tablecloths were laid and a real effort was taken. It looked much better, but just made me mad the same effort wasn't taken daily for paying guests........it wasnt exactly a cheap hotel. Would I go back to ko lanta.....in a heartbeat. Would I stay here...........very unlikely!!

Run down, needs some attention, staff disinterested though there were a few good staff but these seemed to all be managers. Breakfasts very monotonous, no choice, same everyday. Generally disappointing but could be great as the actual resort is well designed.

Comfortable, relaxing place to stay.
Royal Lanta is in a great spot on Klong Dao beach, right on the sand and within easy walking distance of lots of good restaurants and bars. We had a superior villa which was really spacious and comfortable. Sometimes there were ants in the bathroom but the villa is in the middle of a garden so I didn’t expect anything else. There are 2 lovely swimming pools which are always clean. We preferred the top pool as we often had it to ourselves as everyone else went to the one beside the beach. Breakfast was adequate but nothing special and we didn’t try dinner here. We had a lovely stay and I’m sure we’ll be back for a third visit at some point.

Great 3 days at Royal Lanta
We had a great stay at Royal Lanta. The staff is super friendly and very welcoming. The hotel is in a great location at the north end of the island. Room was big (we had a deluxe), quiet, and peaceful. We loved the beach, as it is super clean, very quiet, and pretty. The wifi is just okay. The reggae bar 2 doors down was our absolute favorite the entire time we stayed. Good hotel for a good price - would stay here again.

Hotel was quiet pleasant set in tropical settings right on the beach also had two pools which were clean, grounds nicely maintained, spa massage was very nice, the 9nly disappointing thing was the breakfast a let down not a variety of fruits, no danishes or cakes, but apart from that very pleasant

Peaceful and relaxing
Green season stay so most of the facilities were closed. Too few staff to keep things in top condition but cleanliness was acceptable. Staff we did see were friendly and helpful. Not many bars or restaurants open during this time of year so it was a very peaceful holiday location with almost the entire beach to ourselves.

Has potential, but needs work.
The hotel is in a good area and I'd probably recommend it in high season, but I was there in low season. The spa was closed for 2 months and it seemed like the hotel needed more attention to upkeep. The room was not cleaned well, found someone else's hair in the shower, and mouse dropping were an issue. Don't leave your clothes on the bed in case. The pool area was beautiful and the breakfast was good for an included breakfast in Thailand.

Lovely location on the beach near good restaurants
We really enjoyed our two nights at Royal Lanta. The staff were extremely helpful and lovely. They upgraded our room and arranged transport from the ferry. They also called to check when our tour transport was late and provided us any assistance we needed with a smile. The room was spacious and clean. The beds could have been softer but were on par with most of the hotels we stayed in. There are two pools, which were both clean and refreshing. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

The Royal Lanta still a good choice
While the hotel is showing its age a bit it still has enough charm to make it worthwhile stay. The deluxe room is gigantic in hotel standards and all the teakwood is gorgeous. Skip the room with the jacuzzi as you won't really want to use it, but do enjoy the two pools as they are nice. Also the hotel can arrange excursions for you like snorkeling that are definitely worth it.

Great beachfron hotel near town
Nothing to complain about. One week here, we had a leaky roof but because everything else was great, I can't complain about that. Beach, pool, close to town and yet secluded enough to be "away from it all", this was a great hotel.

A good choice to be close to town and on the beach. Beachside restaurant closed for low season but meals still available at the coffe shop. Unlike most hotels they do not put up shade cloth screens in low season so you still get to enjoy a great beach view. Two lovely pools and beautiful garden. Villas are really clean and comfy with high ceilings making them feel very spacious. Great value in low season. Highly recommend.

I expected more considering the money I paid...
This hotel appeared to be very tired, decor in the room was very dated. Although it was comfy enough, I did sleep well. It is located in the north of the island, still very quite by Thailand standards but there is a fee bars and restaurants within a 10 minute walk.

Nice place to stay. Good value. Lovely friendly reception , resteraunt staff. The breakfast looked good but had no taste unfortunately. The rooms were really modern and nicely decorated.

Engagement ring stolen from room
I have no complaints about the accommodation or setting, location etc. the only complaint I have is that the staff think it is their right to go through your belongings and steal what they like. I had gone all the way to Thailand with the aim of proposing to my girlfriend, however when I did come to "popping the question" I discovered that the ring had been stolen from our room. I was absolutely devastated when I realised (by this time we had moved on from Koh Lanta) the hotels stance is only that they are not held responsible for belongings left in the room - they are obviously not bothered if their staff steal from you as it could only have been taken on the last 2 days of our stay so they WILL know who took it. the small ringbox was tucked away inside my empty backpack - not in a pocket, but inside the main structure of the bag where the frame for the shoulder straps lies (you would not know it was there unless you searched the lining of the rucksack) you may ask why it was not in the safe... my significant other would have found the ring if I had used our rooms safe this criminal act has ruined what should have been the best holiday ever and now is going to be remembered for all the wrong reasons... shame, now I have to find another £1500 to buy another ring....

The resort is lovely, right on the beach. The rooms are nicely furnished and very spacious. The breakfast was satisfactory however we did not eat in the hotel for lunch and dinner. There we lots of restaurants near the hotel on the beach that we tried. Overall a very enjoyable stay at the royal lanta resort.

My boyfriend and I had a romantic getaway to Thailand. We booked this hotel at the last minute and were not disappointed. We were upgraded to a Deluxe room and it was amazing. All of the amenities were first class and the staff were extremely helpful. I highly recommend including breakfast, you will not regret it. The location is right next to Kata beach. This beach is perfect for those who don't like huge crowds. However, Patong is just a tuk tuk ride away for a night out on the town.

Nice Cosy Hotel on A Great Beach
I stayed here with my family for 4 nights. The location is great and the hotel is good overall. The rooms was spacious enough for the four of us. Pros: The room was clean and everything was working, with the small exception of low water pressure in the shower. The resort is not crowded and had a good mix of families and couples. Spa was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Cons: The restaurant was closed for renovations when we were there but that was no issue as there were plenty of restaurants along the beach. Breakfast was a little disappointing, served at the small bakery. The management could have done more with the nice looking coffee machine in the back. That aside, the kids enjoyed the freshly made banana pancakes each morning. I wished they had poolside service for simple snacks and beverages. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would not mind returning again.

We arrived in the evening and found one of the missing children's bed room   Staff refused to help. The receptionist acted inappropriately. The room was reasonable but the toilet and shower room was dirty and unkempt. After one night we left.

Terrible experience
I went there with 2 friends of mine for 2 nights. The rooms were spacious and pretty good, but the big pool was not well taken care of, the breakfast was horrible, i'm guessing the bacon was made once a week and just reheated every day. The only thing that was good about it was the omlet. I would not recommend this hotel for ANYONE.

Paradise, great resort
The hotel was great, clean, spacious rooms, had very helpful staff, and located right on the beach. Our trip was during the low season so other resorts and businesses were closed. The staff helped us everyday by offering tours and different activities to do. The only downfall was that the spa and massage area was being renovated during our stay.

The hotel is described as a resort and we were disappointed as the restaurant wasn't open and more than half of the food and drink in the cafe were not available. The spa was also closed. The hotel was on the beach fromt but the beach was dirty and a mess. The rooms themselves looked quite nice but smelled damp. I think this all has to be taken in the context of June being low season and with better weather and more atmosphere, with the amenities and services open and operational this might be a nice place but I can only rate it on the basis of our experience. Lanta itself seems generally quiet with not much going on but again this might have been because of it being low season. However, phi phi had a completely different feel two days later so it can't all be blamed on the season. Personally, I wouldn't bother going back to this hotel or Lanta.

This hotel could be such a gem: Right by the beach, lush gardens, good sized pools and in and outdoor restaurant space. But the pool and beach furniture is not turned down in the morning, the breakfast is served indoors even on perfectly fine days and the restaurant has some tables scattered around without making it inviting at all. There is some work going on in that area so perhaps that might improve. But if you are expecting service at the pool or at least seeing someone you might be disappointed. The staff at reception is nice though and helps with booking tours and transport. We didn't eat at the restaurant as it was quite uninviting but the hotel next door has very good food and on the main road are also some nice eateries (even though some have closed down for green season). The location is fine and with your own scooter Lanta is easily explorable.

Good hotel for Ko Lanta
Ko Lanta is not Phuket or Ko Phi Phi or Ko Samui; it is much more laid back and much less touristy. If you go to Ko Lanta, the Royal Lanta resort is a good hotel to stay. Wherever you stay in Ko Lanta, you will need to rent a motorbike (a nice motorbike rental shop is a few meters before the hotel on the small road from the main road). The hotel is a series of bungalow; no water view from the bungalows, but the hotel has a nice garden with pool, coffeshop and restaurant that are open to the ocean; very nice sunsets over Ko Phi Phi in the distance. The hotel is not far from the pier (maybe not even one km); do not buy a taxi ticket on the boat (I paid 150 THB for the taxi ticket on the boat); you should pay a max of 50 THB for a tuk tuk on the pier.
