The Beach House is an ocean-front home, sitting literally 30 feet from the water's edge with 210-degree ocean views. You can hear the crashing waves from every room of this impeccable 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home. The lanai/deck stretches out from the rear of the house, giving you a perfect spot to watch the local surfers catch the massive breaking waves on the outside reef, enjoy the breathtaking sunset each evening, or watch the playful sea turtles at the water’s edge. At night, your reality will seamlessly become a dream with the sound of the waves just outside. The Hoona Beach House is a spotlessly clean, open style single-story Hawaiian floorplan, with glass walls across the back. The property features a front-row ocean view from almost everywhere inside this 3-bedroom, 3-bath home. It is completely private with tropical surroundings, sitting on the shore of a tranquil cove with lava rock and coral reefs on both sides, giving you an unobstructed ocean view and privacy from neighbors. In 2021 a major renovation and re-build of the Hoona Beach House was completed. Everything inside and out is modernized and brand new (from windows, doors, roof, cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, flooring, to even the furniture, etc.). The 1800 square foot home features an enormous, open living-dining area, a fully stocked gourmet kitchen with a large pantry, and inside laundry facilities. A California king bed is in the master bedroom. The second and third bedrooms both offer queen sized beds. All baths have Caesarstone counter tops, and top of the line European designed fixtures. One-piece Toto toilets are in all three baths All linens and towels are provided, including plenty of large beach towels. The Hoona Beach House is a custom designed tropical retreat. The interior has glass walls that open wide to the large lanai, where waves lap the reef only steps away. A gas barbecue is outside on the deck, for casual cooking. Ceiling fans are in each room, to enhance the cool, scented breeze of the trade winds. And, when you return from the beach, or if you just want to cool off, an outdoor, hot/cold shower is in a private corner of the rear yard under tall coconut trees, overlooking the sparkling ocean and reef. It provides a fabulous view, is well maintained and reflects the owner's attention to detail. Sea turtles feeding in the morning, whales on the horizon, incredible sunsets and a deck that provides more than a 180 degree vista are among the key components of the house. Tom clearly wants his visitors to enjoy the island and the property and is a very responsive owner. The home is in an absolute perfect location walking distance to beach, restaurants, and shopping yet nestled on a quaint residential street. We were certain to return home to the lanai in time to see the breathtaking sunsets in the evenings. The house is top of the line, immaculate, and a great view. Our only wish was that we could stay longer. We were there during the Kona Winds (we heard called) so the cove next to the house was out of our league for swimming and snorkeling but there is a great beach walking distant as well as restaurants and shops. We were traveling with another couple and the setup of a home rather than a hotel room was perfect for us. As has been said repeatedly, the location couldn't be better. We easily found everything we needed at the beach house - and more. Everything is in top-notch condition. I really can't say enough good things about the place and Tom was a pleasure to deal with. The Beach House was amazing! It truly lived up the pictures and description in the vrbo listing! The house has a fabulous location over looking the beach in a quiet neighborhood. But...just within a few blocks are nice beaches, a great restaurant, a golf course, and wonderful walking/running paths. Less than a mile a way is an inviting shopping area with a specialty market, restaurants, and beachy shopping. The house was immaculate, freshly decorated, and had all the necessary amenities. We snorkeled daily right out the side of the property(next to the turtles) and had easy walks to shopping/restaurants. As you can see you are right at the oceans edge and we watched sea turtles and even one Monk Seal swam around in front of the property one day. We snorkeled with the turtles that come every afternoon to the reef right off the patio--it was a highlight of our trip! The best Poipu beaches were close by, and the proximity to fantastic restaurants (the Beach House restaurant for a classic Kauai dinner and sunset, Josselin's for the most amazing tapas, Merriman's for brilliant fresh fish) made this a great vacation home. Tom is a charming host, and takes great pride in this gorgeous home. He ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy not only the house, but the nearby beaches and restaurants. The house is lovely, not too large...but more than ample room. The location is perfect, a private lane on water's edge, walk to the shopping center, walk to restaurants. Tom is a terrific host! There if you need anything, but not overbearing. He has become a good friend! If you value peace, privacy and want to experience the serenity of the ocean at your door, this is the pace for you! This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 21 Jan 2012 #### One of a kind in Poipu Kauai My wife and I stayed with another couple and it could not of worked out better. We had our rooms at either end and then shared the kitchen and living area. We were there for 10 days and enjoyed 180 degree view of the ocean straight ahead we watched the wales and then off to the right the surfers. In the evening we enjoyed our dinners watching the sun set from the deck over the water. For shopping we could drive or hike up to the local shopping that satisfied all our wants. We had a choice of incredible golf courses and hiking trails and beaches. The accomodation and management exceeded our expectations and we would certainly stay again. Kitchen, baths, bedrooms all very nice quality and and will not disappoint, very clean. Secluded swimming cove steps away, sunset view from lanai is superb and easy evening stroll to restaurant. Breaching whales, lazy turtles, and colorful Moorish Idol fish, all viewed from the property. You can even see Spouting Horn from the lanai. Off street parking under covered breezeway is wonderful, no blistering hot car to return too. Very easy owner to deal with. Still recalling barbequing on the lanai as the sun was setting - great memories. Already considering our next return. ##### don w. The ocean crashing, sea turtles swimming, surfers catching waves, and boats sailing by were all in the backyard! The over 120 feet of oceanfront property kept us outside the entire vacation. When we finally had to sleep, we went inside to only hear the ocean's waves crashing all around us. The inside was beautiful as well, but honestly, we lived outside the entire 4 days we were there. My husband and I decided to go to Kauai for our 25th anniversary. I searched for months for a place to stay on the ocean and found the Beach House.I sent an email and Tom responded within 15 minutes. We made the decision to stay at the Beach House and it was paradise! The house is beautiful, and the ocean is incredible. We went to sleep every night listening to the waves. The sea turtles visited us every night. The house is conveniently located on the south side, and easy access to shopping, beaches and restaurants. We had so much fun snorkeling. We loved sitting on the lanai just watching and listening to the ocean. Wish we could have stayed longer, hopefully we can come back soon. ##### Brenda D. We enjoyed watching the goergeous sunsets from the back yard. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was very relaxing. The house was extremely clean, well maintained and comfortable. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the property. It was evident he cared deeply about his house. He even took the time to cut down a coconut from his tree for us to enjoy for breakfast. The fresh fruit basket in the kitchen was also a pleasant suprise. We would definately recommend this property to other people vacationing in the area. Poipu is a beautiful town with a lot to do. We had dinner at The Dolphin restaurant. The food was fantastic. The photos speak truly of the amazing views and privacy of this house. What you can't get in the photos is the wonderful sound of the surf and the trade winds. The house is very well appointed, has everything you might need to enjoy a fabulous vacation. Our family had the best time and enjoyed every moment in Tom's house. He takes such pride in and wants you to enjoy the wonderfulness of his home. You can walk to great beaches and the access is easy to the rest of the Island. But be warned, don't plan on doing too many activities away from the house. You just won't want to! We spent a lot of time just sitting on the Lanai, enjoying the sea turtles and surf.
