5/5 Excellent
"The hotel is phenomenal. We rented a 2-bed villa with private pool. It was clean, luxurious and very private.
The service exceptional with special attention from the staff at every turn. The food was amazing buffet and a la carte options. The entire staff is to be commended for their friendliness, attention to detail, and going the extra mile. A special thank you to Esther who sourced special seafood dishes for us to make our experience even more memorable. We will definitely not hesitate to return and recommend it warmly to our friends and family. Again, thank you!"

"Location was tranquil and just what we were looking for at the start of our Zanzibar holiday. All the staff were amazingly welcoming and friendly. The team led by Ally are a credit to the hotel. The dining experience was quite special and we very much enjoyed the fresh barbecued fish at night, especially the huge tuna that a slice and thickness of your liking was cooked there and then and served to your table….in fact the staff even do your toast for you in the morning ! Overall hotel was perfect for our family of 4 including teenagers - if staying I would recommend a rental car to explore the local area, good deals can be found on arrival at the airport, we paid $30 USD a day and rental car company collected from hotel anywhere on the island for $20 USD."

"A very relaxing place to stay and recuperate.
We had a fantastic sea view to the front and side of the room. That did mean that when the storms came we also had a very wet floor as the front just has mesh panels and no windows (but we were very grateful for the refreshing breeze!) but this was quickly dried up with some towels. Housekeeping available everyday and excellent service.
Room had a ceiling and a mosquito net over the bed. As it was hot and humid when we were there it could be quite difficult to sleep at night - not the fault of the hotel, just one of those things.
The bathroom shower is not contained so be warned that the floor does get very wet and is slow to drain.
The pool was great! Most guests don't seem to use it so it was pretty quiet most days. We loved it when the monkeys would come out and swing around the trees by the pool - it's a mini jungle paradise!
Access to the sea is down some steps - the water is lovely and clear. Be aware that during load tied you will likely be approached by locals hiding behind rocks on the beach offering boat tours/taxi service etc. The same tours and services are offered by the hotel for a very competitive price so we preferred to book through Promised Land.
Lovely bar and restaurant staff. Lovely food especially the Tanzanian fish curry! We stayed for 10 nights so menu was getting a bit samey but most people stay for much shorter period of time.
Beautiful, remote location with lovely people to look after you."

"The staff were amazing. It felt like a family environment. I was quite emotional after I left. The managers and staff did everything possible to make my stay perfect. Benjamin, kitchen staff and housekeeping and all cleaners helped me out a-lot during my stay. This was a dreamy luxurious stay. I was even given complimentary treats on my arrival. I booked the Ocean view prestige Villa and it was a great decision. You have bikes at the villa which you can use to explore around the resort and gardens. The spa is extremely amazing. I loved my therapist Anna she was brilliant. Highly reccomend."

"Nice if you like solitude and being in nature, and don't mind "rustic". Big open air villas surrounded by trees (even a few baobabs), which are frequent by monkeys (including red colobus). Not so nice if you are used to excellence and attention to detail in everything. Resort is in need of TLC at a minimum or renovation at a maximum to make it worth the price. All of the cushions are either worn out or torn with the cotton pocking out or zippers not closing... I would not recommend booking any trips with them either, as all we had were mediocre at best. Not sure about diving, but would not recommend snorkeling unless you have your own equipment. My snorkel had to be cleared every 2 minutes. Our snorkel guide could barely swim, and the boat we were on had no basic safety equipment. The coral was nice but fish population is almost all gone due to overfishing. There was a fish trap on the bottom of our snorkeling area. Lots of trash along the shore. Our boat caught a fish line in the engine, and almost got into the exposed rocks during cleanup...Everyone working there was nice and trying to please us. Overall, wish we had better memories of the Zanzibar island. "
"lovely resort, rooms are very nice and clean however communication between the staff was terrible, requests that were made and confirmed prior to arrival were not met, information given to us on check in was poor and not accurate. staff failed to communicate guest requirements to other members of staff "
