Nice clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff.

Posted 23-Jan-2018
Pros: Clean hotel with friendly staff at a very reasonable price.
Cons: Better sound proof doors so you can’t hear talking and noises from vending machines in hallway. Move machines closer to front lobby away from rooms.
Included breakfast was pretty good with lots of choices. Hotel close to lots of restaurants and Mall was only 5 minute drive away. My only complaint is that my room was kinda noisy. I had asked specifically at check-in for a quiet room. Too close to vending and ice machine in hallway.

Really uncomfortable!

Took over half an hour to check in. Front desk clerk gave me a room already occupied by other guests never had that happen to me before. Very unlikely ill step back into that place.

The ladies that facilitated breakfast were absolutely amazing! So friendly and great with my kids! Front desk was very nice and helpful. Great value for the price. Could use some updating. But overall nice stay and great breakfast!

We stayed here for one night because we were going to see a show DWT ar Centre in the Square that night. This was a perfect place to stay. Older hotel, yet it had been refurbished recently in my opinion. Our room was spotless. Beds were very comfortable, and there was a coffee maker and small fridge and microwave in the room. Good location. 5 minutes from the mall and 5-10 minutes from Centre in the Square. So had an excellent continental breakfast, hot too! Scrambled eggs, sausage,French toast, cereal, etc. I would stay here again.

what a nice place to stay

Posted 21-Dec-2017
Pros: The breakfast--Superb both times.
We've stayed there two non-consecutive nights: The staff are skilled and freindly, problems disappear as soon as they know about them. The rooms are clean, well furnished and seem to be well sound protected--The hallway traffic is not heard. The breakfast is great: good choices (dry cereal, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, ham or bacon (depending on the day) french toast, baked beans, fresh fruit, baked goods, etc etc etc--all of it first rate, self serve in a good sized room. We always had a choice of tables. On top of everything else, the price was reasonable--definitely less than expected for this caliber of hotel. We will be back. Don't know when, but the next time we stay in Kitchener, it will be at this Best Western.

Accessibility comments

Posted 19-Dec-2017
Pros: Location, breakfast, courteous staff.
Cons: See comments above about the door swing issues.
I was given an accessible unit even though I did not require it. It was close to the main entrance and breakfast room. There were however problems with both the entrance door and the bathroom doors. The entrance door was swinging the wrong way so when entering the room, the light switch was behind the door. Very poor for able bodied and persons with a disability. On the inside, there was very limited wall space on the latch side of the door. No 600mm (2’) space for wheelchair as required by codes when pulling a door towards you. With the door closer, this would be practically impossible for a wheelchair user. There was ample room on the other side of the door, if the door was swinging in the correct direction. Relocation of the cushioned bench would provide the required space for the wheelchair user to open the door. The bathroom door and frame were not installed properly as the door was always wanting to swing open. Closing it was a challenge with the force required to engage the latch. Again this would be very difficult for a disabled person because of the force required to latch the door shut.
