Easy and convenient parking. Friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent restaurant with great options for the whole family. The room was clean but hot as we happened to be there on a rare hot day. We had dinner there and the breakfast included with our stay was great. Many options for breakfast and were all popular with our family. Thank you.

Williams family stay
We stayed in a large family room with lots a space for a family of 5. The room was large and clean bathroom was good size and clean kids all had there own beds my only issue was our bed was a little on the hard side for me but everyone’s preferences are different so I wouldn’t necessarily mark it down on this. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the area. We will be back again for sure.

Lovely stay
We had a lovely stay at the Old Ginn House, the room was modern, clean and tidy with a nice big shower. The food in the evening was really good and tasty as was the breakfast! The staff were very friendly and welcoming! The only slight negative was it got quite noisy in the bar area in the evening!

Enjoyable Stay
We arrived and were shown to our room and I unpacked. Then my partner discovered that the volume control on the tv didn't work! We repoerted it and were immediately offered another room of the same standard. It was a nuisance to have to gather up our belongings again but couldn't be helped. Staff apologised profusely and offered to help with luggage. Room was good as was shower. Dinner was very enjoyable though the restaurant was busy and we waited a while to order. It was a Saturday night so this was understandable. Service at breakfast was prompt and a very good choice. My Eggs Benedict were excellent and my partner's Cumbrian Breakfast was enormous! The hotel was quietly situated and convenient for exploring the lakes and Solway Coast. Staff were pleasant throughout our stay and we'd return if in the area.

Great for leisure, no Wi-Fi in room for business
Excellent food, excellent room and very good location for my needs BUT no wifi in room. After multiple restarts of the kit and three conversations in two days I was left with the clear impression that the walls in room 1 (courtyard suite) are too thick for the Wi-Fi to reach… this is the only negative in a lovely room and hotel, but meant I couldn’t work and have calls in the office of the room as planned, and had to sit in the reception / lobby instead.

We are delighted that you were found your Superior King room to be an excellent room and of course the Old Ginn House Inn food.With regards to the WI-FI it appeared was working around the rest of the building with other guests using the WI-FI so we do not understand why your device would not connect.

Convenient if you're in the area
Pleasant place to stay and located in a quiet area. The rooms are immaculately clean, warm and have everything you need. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is nice and fresh with ample choice. We have stayed twice at this location, although we prefered the seperate annex, rather than the main building. We were in room 8 on our last visit. It is above the dining room, so was rather noisy on an evening and during breakfast time. The room itself was lovely, but soundproofing could be better.

Pleasant saty - staff very friendly - breakfast service not so good but portions were huge and food very good. Also the set time for breakfast was alwkward given all early slots went and I needed to be as early as possible to get to work.

Made an error on the date for booking, I booked the Thursday instead of the Tuesday. I tried to change as soon as I got the confirmation , room cost was the same price and same room was available. Hotel refused and wanted to charge me the full £77 to book the other room. Tried to say it was hotels.com that insisted on the charge however this was a lie, it was at the hotels discretion. (Confirmed by the hotel) Stayed several times and is my hotel of choice for monthly business trips, always enjoyed my stays. Disappointed at the decision as the staff are usually always very helpful, seems a shame that I won’t use them again because I made a mistake that they could have simply corrected. Just seemed very greedy to me.

We take all feedback seriously. As you have stayed previously you will know that we are a small family run Inn and we are certainly not greedy. You had booked a standard room at a non refundable rate. The terms and conditions state that it is non refundable and non exchangeable. We are sorry that you feel due to this matter that you would not stay again even though you have enjoyed previous stays.

I didn’t enjoy my stay as they hotel staff were unable to accommodate my request for an accessible room. And staff were very rude which was very unpleasant.

Your have made your review anonymous but as from previous correspondence we know when you stayed and in which room. You chose to book our smallest Standard Double Room on the cheapest non-refundable rate. Unfortunately, we only had one Standard Room available which is on the first floor. You asked for an accessible ground floor room. We explained to you that we have a disabled friendly Classic Double Room, but it was already taken so obviously it was impossible for you to stay in that room. Our Inn is very busy, and it is not always possible to book the room you would prefer at the last minute. We explained to you, that you could upgrade to a ground floor larger Classic Double Room at a cost of only £5 extra. This extra cost should have been £14.70 as we do not offer a cheaper non-refundable rate on this type of room. You could also have upgraded to our ground floor Superior Double Room but at an extra cost of £39.70. Again, we do not offer a cheaper non-refundable rate on this type of room. We clearly explained to you that the room you had booked was on the first floor and that it was your decision if you did not wish to upgrade the room. You booked at the last minute; our Inn was very busy; our disabled friendly Classic Room was taken; and the extra charge was simply because you would upgrade to a better type of room. You have also stated on your dislikes the cleanliness, property conditions and room comfort of which none of this was previously stated with our selves?

A Excellent Place to Stay
We thoroughly enjoyed a 4 day stay at the Old Ginn House Inn. The staff were very welcoming and throughout our stay made sure we had everything we needed. They went the extra mile, when at short notice we asked to have a meal table for 16 people and they did this without any problem. We ate at the Old Ginn House Inn three times on separate evenings and found every meal was expertly produced and tasted wonderful. We ate a breakfast every morning and once again the the food was wonderful, in particular we can fully recommend the Cumberland Sausage fried breakfast which was truly filling and certainly set you up for the day. The accommodation was fine although the 'classic' room was a little small and the bed and pillows were rather hard. That said it was a very pleasant stay and the cleaning staff did a great job. Overall this was a great place to stay and we will visit again next time we are in the Lake District. We would, without hesitation, recommend the Old Ginn House as a super place to stay and it is run by a very efficient, polite and helpful staff.

This was a really great place to stay and explore the Cumbrian coast and very near the Lakes too. Cockermouth is just a couple of miles away and a lovely picturesque place. The Inn was spotless and all staff were really friendly. The food was excellent pub grub too.
