VERY PLEASED

Posted 09-Dec-2017
Pros: Ambiance, pleasant personality of sttaff, the wellprepared breakfast and food served at the restaurant was also done excellently
Cons: repairs to potholes on the road leading to the hotel as well as the installation of street lights for the greater part of the journey
Location: ofcourse dining at glorias was a hot spot and this time there was great improvement in the setting..furniture, painting and rest room
The ambiance at the Grand Port Royal is breathtaking..the surroundings are well taken care of..lawn mowed nicely, pavements immaculate, plants well placed, my room was spacious and clean but most of all, the staff was great...the showed great personality ..very pleasant..lots of smiles and eager to attend to the request of guests.. every single one that i met..Anya, Crystal, Fabian to name a few . No wonder the rooms are easily sold out.. very happy with the experience I had for the second time around. Not to mention the complimentary Jamaican menu breakfast..variety was the order of the day..and the food was delicious. Some parts of the road leading to the hotel (after passing the roundabout by the airport) need urgent attention for the repair of the potholes and more street lighting.. Maybe the management of Grand Port Royal can influence the government to repair the few bad spots quickly

Close to airport so handy for a 1st or last night

The soundproofing of our room (101) was poor, so it was fortunate the hotel was quiet. The bar served excellent cocktails but the restaurant was subpar compared to every other meal we had in Jamaica

Nice Hotel in one of the safest areas in Jamaica

Posted 21-Nov-2017
Pros: Attentive staff, especially Crystal and Ozzie.
Cons: Maintenance, Bar and restaurant stocking and the harbour pool.
The Good: Outstanding staff. Kudos to staff members Christalee 'Crystal' Smith and Oswald 'Ozzie' ???(Sorry, never got his last name). The staff, especially Crystal and Ozzie, provided us with excellent service. The rooms were large , airy and always clean. The grounds were pleasant and for the most part well maintained. Crystal and Ozzie were our 'area' guides giving us ideas for places to stop in the local area as well as perfect directions. In addition, Crystal and Ozzie helped us with a special order seafood meal 'to go' that was well received. Crystal and Ozzie also made us some incredible cocktails. The Bad: Hotel does need a little more maintenance. Our room a/c had only one working setting (very cold). The bar needs to be stocked at a more consistent level(my favorite mixer, Pepsi was missing for two and a half days). The bar definitely need a few top shelf items. A 12 year old scotch, 12 year old rum (my favorite), and an upscale vodka (Absolute, Grey Goose maybe). Remember many of those using the hotel are business people with company credit cards. The one significant thing was the condition of the harbour pool. It had a lot of floating debris coming in from the Kingston side of the harbour. Rather than just trying to push it back out( it just floats back), the debris needs to be collected. The only downside is that the hotel would have to container it. Recommendation: Despite it's flaws, a hearty yes.

Staff where courteous and helpful. Place needs updating to meet modern tastes. Breakfast could have been available earlier (flying from to east means early waking up).

Think Before Stay

Pros: · Close to marina · Historic reputation · Close to one of Jamaica's most historic icon · Real effort of staff to maintain common areas Cons: · Hotel needs facelift · Staff needs some motivation · Parts of jetty needs reconstruction · Rooms need upgrading
