I liked this hotel. It was quiet and peaceful.

The hotel staff were amazing! The bartenders were true mixologist. They took their time and made sure our drinks were on point especially Ozzy. The food was also good. The hotel could use a little updating but for the price, it's decent. I will stay here again during my next visit to Jamaica.

GREAT place to stay!

Posted 02-May-2017
I had a great time at Grand Port Royal Hotel. First off,I got upgraded to a queen sized bed which was nice of them! Overall,I had a great stay. The catering staff of Stephanie,Onela and the rest of the girls need a raise. They fed me well. Not to mention the chef "Biggie"! Being next to the sea meant I Could see fishes swimming. Even saw a starfish for the first time! Only snag was the gym wasn't open but I jogged and skipped daily so that was no big deal. Only sad bit was checking out. Made me very very sad indeed. Will surely go back. That hotel is the spot!

Older hotel, close to the airport.

Posted 19-Apr-2017
Cons: The restaurant and bar needs improved.
Location: It's close to the airport.
We were only there for one night and stayed there because it was close to the airport and I stayed there several years ago. The rooms were clean although there was no bath soap in the shower or sink. The restaurant/bar was another story. The server was very nice but he had to take our order three times because everything we order he'd come back out to say that they were out of what we ordered and the bar only had Red Stripe or Heineken beers and Rum.

Awful... rat hole of a place

Worst hotel I've ever been to. Stayed a maximum of about 10mins in the room then checked out and looked for another hotel to stay.... never going back there...

Nice hotel, close to hotel

Check in was easy. Room accommodations were not bad. Shower temperature tepid. Staff were attentive, Friendly and professional. Stayed initial night in Jamaica and returned night before leaving. Will stay again on future trips.

Bad time

Posted 26-Mar-2017
Pros: close to airport, waterfront
Cons: need better food prices, need more pleasant staff (maybe they get no tips because customers think the "service charge" is their tip, but no it goes to
Location: Nothing nearby except dirty beaches and shacks where poor people live.
Rude staff at the front desk. High prices at the restaurant with an added service charge. Old building in need of renovations. Isolated location with nothing to do but eat and drink. Can not believe I wasted my limited vacation time and my money to experience this. Wish I had stayed home.

You will regret it

Posted 26-Mar-2017
Pros: the view of Kingston at night and being close to the airport
Cons: the building, the furnishings, the impolite staff, the prices, the policy of the hotel, the loud music was a killer.
Location: You are trapped at the end of the peninsula with no alternatives being an hour bus ride to downtown Kingstion
Could hardly have been worse. Arrived 2pm. Told my room was ready but check in time was 3pm. I had to wait until then or pay $20 USA for early arrival. At 3pm a private party started in the courtyard of the hotel. They had two towers of speakers and they screamed loud gangster rap music so loud the sliding glass door of our room was shaking. Nowhere was there there a place to avoid the head splitting loud music. After two days my ears were still ringing. You are trapped with nowhere to go as an alternative as you are isolated on the end of a peninsula, with just a small very poor village nearby. The water is dirty, and walking around locally the beaches are covered with trash. Since there are no alternatives but one, the restaurant menu is very pricey, and the small print on the menu allows them to charge additional % for service charge that does not go to the staff. Old building in disrepair. First time I have had a hotel room without a small table next to the bed. Total room furnishing, one bed and one couch, a closet with no hangers. You will regret a visit if you choose this one.
