Located on a popular surfing beach with Bigbury on Sea and Burgh Island only 10 minutes walk away, In season sea front bar and fish and chip beach shack. Just 15 mins walk to Journey's End Pub or 10 mins (tide permitting) to The Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island. The Loft has two bedrooms, One king size double with TV, wardrobe and en suite bathroom with walk in shower. One Twin / King Size Double with wardrobe, TV / DVD. Family bathroom with large shower. Large kitchen and dining area with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, gas hob and oven. First floor large living room, TV / DVD, opening onto a glass fronted enclosed balcony, with table and chairs. The Loft benefits from central heating and private Wi Fi. There were only a couple of minor issues, the main one of which was finding the cottage on arrival in Challaborough. We arrived from the Bigbury direction and missed the cottage completely due to no Follyfoot sign being visible from this direction and the instructions assuming arrival from the other Ringmore direction. We then looked for a cottage on the beach but this beach cottage is, as advertised, \~100 metres back from the beach. Anyway we soon found it and even us oldies managed the \~100 metres to the beach on most days! As other reviews have also noted, the view from the Loft is an extensive caravan park rather than a beach or the sea but this is no problem if the weather is good enough to go to the beach where the sea-views are excellent! Finally, electronic comms from the Reids' are excellent and visitor privacy was certainly well maintained during our stay. My teenage daughter was very happy with the high end mirror in the bathroom. It was clean and tidy. There are plenty of games and books to read. Fully equipped kitchen, not what everyone needs for a break away but I was able to wash my youngest daughters t-shirt (favourite t-shirt) so she could wear it everyday. The communication prior with the owners was very good and the check in process and directions were good. The house has 2 ground floor bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, as well as a very well appointed kitchen diner, including walking up liquid , dishwasher tablets and laundry detergent. Everything was beautiful with lots of attention to detail. Upstairs is a lovely lounge and balcony, there is a TV and a cupboard full of board games and another full of DVDs. It was our first time visiting Devon and the only drawback is the access roads to the beaches, including Challaborough. They are often single track with passing places. This made for some stressful driving experiences! Fortunately you have access to Challaborough beach at the end of the road or a 10-15 minute walk along the coastal path to Bigbury and Burgh Island beaches, which became our preferred one, as we ditched the car after a few days. Overall we cannot fault the house and the owners were very kind, and if you’re a confident driver then the location shouldn’t trouble you either. ##### Katherine E.
