___________
An old coastguard's cottage along a stunning coastline, it’s now light, bright and coastal inspired, adapted for modern living. There's plenty of character with a ship's beam spanning the living room ceiling, wooden floors and light hues of blue /green greet you as you climb the stairs to the loft.
CLEANING PROTOCOL
Given the current situation we are fumigating the cottage between stays and sanitising after thorough cleaning, in line with current industry standards. Our cottage has been certified by Visit England's 'Good To Go' scheme.
SUMMER SUN:
In full summer, enjoy the garden patio or head straight down the road to the beach, picking up buckets and spades from our collection or the shop a minute away. On breezy days, the patio and conservatory are a sheltered sun trap and enjoy views to the sea and the hills.
COSY DOWN IN WINTER :
Enjoy long walks along the cliffs, the solitude of the beaches and a toasty log burner enjoyed from the huge sofa in the evenings. A basket of logs and kindling is ready for your first night + instructions for those new to lighting a real fire.
BEACHES, SURFING + SWIMMING :
Lifeguards are on duty at Challaborough and Bantham Bays; surf or paddle boarding gear can be hired from the Discovery Surf Centre just across the road in the holiday park. Outside school holidays (at their discretion) you can use the swimming pool & playground at the holiday park.
BEDROOMS :
2 Double Bedrooms
1 Twin Bedroom (most suitable for children)
FIRST FLOOR :
DOUBLE BEDROOM : A built-in bed brings you views of the sea from the window as you drink your morning coffee.
TWIN BEDROOM: Kids have their own room complete with blackout blind, nightlight, and a chest of story books.
SECOND FLOOR:
DOUBLE BEDROOM: The loft bedroom (steep steps) has amazing views out to Burgh Island and the sounds of the sea will lull you to sleep.
Travel Cot (& Change Mat) can be left out on request.
KITCHEN & DINING AREA:
We love cooking so the kitchen is well equipped with a range cooker, mixer, blender, baking cupboard and a shelf of cookbooks. There’s tea and coffee left for you, a coffee grinder (and beans) and a cafetière so you don’t need to pack one.
The dining area (in the open plan kitchen) is intimately lit for evening dinners around the farmhouse table.
LIVING AREA:
Adjoining the kitchen, the living room has a large 4 - 5 seater sofa, armchair and WiFi enabled TV complete with BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Amazon Prime TV and freeview Satellite TV.
There’s a den under the open staircase with bean bags for kids to play in.
BATHROOM:
Shower, WC and sink (no bath). Baby bath can be provided on request.
UTILITY ROOM:
Washing machine & tumble dryer
CONSERVATORY:
A small conservatory at the front of the cottage overlooks the garden. There's room to dine, have evening drinks or shelter from windy days whilst still enjoying the view.
PATIO GARDEN:
There's a small patio garden with a bench and views to sea. Garden furniture can be brought out for lunches al fresco. The walls to our friendly neighbours' gardens are low so dogs need to be on a lead /tied to the bench.
Other things to note
Please take care of babies/ young children on the stairs. The loft staircase is steep for those unstable on their feet.
Well behaved dogs are welcome here - we do ask that you supervise them. Plenty of guests have enjoyed staying here with their dogs, but the low garden walls may not be suitable for some dogs. There are lots of dog friendly beaches nearby in low season, and a walk / short drive away in high season.
We look forward to welcoming you to stay!
