Decent hotel

Posted 08-Jul-2016
Pros: location, staff & good food on evening meal.
Cons: Have proper kingsize beds as advertised, not 2 beds stuck together.
Location: Canterbury is lovely. It's museums are good and there's ample shops. Dover Castle is worth a visit, Margate too, but avoid Ramsgate as that's a bust.
Hotel was alright for the price. The staff were polite and helpful. We didn't have the breakfast so i can't comment on that, it was cheaper to go to Wetherspoons in the city centre. We did have one evening meal at the hotel which was a good feast at a reasonable price, the waiting staff were polite & courteous and the food came in good time. The location was ok, about a 10 minute walk into town if you got tired legs. Thankfully on day 2 we found an equally quick back route via Westgate Gardens/back streets so i could avoid the busiest most polluted roads when my asthma was bad. Thought it's poistioned on the ring road, i didn't hear the traffic much as our room was out the back. The only thing i didn't like was that the room we booked said it had a kingsize bed in the room, which was a lie, it was was two regular sized beds stuck together with kingsize sheets and duvet stuck on top. The ridge where the two beds met in the in the middle was annoying. (i'm assuming proper kingsized beds don't have that ridge.)

Lovely hotel!

We loved our stay at the Victoria. It's in easy walking distance of the main Canterbury shopping areas. The room was very big and spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant was very big with lots of character and the food was amazing!! Overall a perfect stay :) I would definately stay again.
