Good location but let down by poor insulation

Posted 24-Aug-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Difficult to say as the main problems are structural
Staff were helpful and breakfast was good but the walls are wafer thin, so heard every sound from adjoining rooms and corridor. Topped off by the folk opposite taking to the corridor to have a very interesting and noisy row. Didn't have the heart to complain as they clearly had sufficient issues without being told off by the staff, but better insulation would have dramatically reduced the problem. The rooms were also quite small, but the bathrooms were surprisingly well appointed.

The building exterior looked grand but the location and the condition of the hotel were disappointing. The hotel is located right next to a college campus so the view from our small room was of an ugly school building. The walk from reception to our room took us past large, red wheelie bins in the corridors and small, empty, dilapidated "conference" rooms with their doors wide open. Overall the hotel had an institutional feel about it. The food was nice but the dining room next to the bar was rather bland. They have room service but there is no room service menu in the rooms so you have to phone reception to ask them to bring you one. The staff were pleasant enough.

A comfortable room, lovely staff and the food good. The restaurant room used in the evening was a bit small and airless though. It may only have been used that evening as there was a wedding reception taking place.

Quiet location

Posted 02-Jul-2015
Cons: Quiet closing doors please !
Location: Chatham historic dockyard. Lots of lovely National Trust properties close by as well.
A nice hotel, although we had booked for the weekend and both evenings they had an event on. This resulted in us having to go around the function room with our luggage. Not terribly practical. The walls were quite thin and we did have a screaming child in the room next door which you could hear very clearly.

Pros: Room was so lovely
Cons: They could just check electrical items are all working ready for the next guest, however they were immediately rectified.
Location: Location is good, however I was attending a wedding.
Room was beautifully presented, very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was perfect and staff very helpful.

Good place to stay, but very business orientated eg conferencing and meetings, but otherwise great service and polite, helpful staff
