Luxury at a bargain price

Posted 13-May-2017
Pros: Helpful and friendly staff Good value snack Comfortable room.
Cons: Not sure if anything could be done about it, but the sound from the motorway and railway line is quite intrusive when outside in the garden. Inside it
Location: Lovely Kent countryside, with Leeds, Hever and Sissinghurst castles close. Canterbury and Rochester within 40 minutes and Dover about an hour away.
Room was very comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful. Lovely snack in the dining room while couple on the next table we're ploughing their way through the tasting menu. As the waitress told them "You've got a lot of eating to get through tonight".

Staff exceptional. Food excellent. Need an extra light & comfortable resident lounge as difficult to find light and comfortable place to read etc. Enjoyed an excellent nights sleep.

Convenient stop off after cross channel journey

Posted 11-Apr-2017
Pros: Location, staff and breakfast! Comfortable bed. Lots of character.
Cons: Rooms always have heating on whatever time we visit! Windows have restraining mechanisms so a bit hot for 'fresh air freaks!'.
Have stayed here 4 times. This was the nicest room to date - Longfellow.

Birthday celebration

Posted 18-Mar-2017
Room was charming with beams and the bed was one of the best I have slept in. The only thing I would add is if you are used to a very quiet environment you get woken up by the wildlife quacking noisily in the morning and you can hear the train thrunderling past nearby. They also in our groups opinion did not have enough breakfast waiting staff on duty. One lady taking orders for the whole restaurant so we were kept waiting for an extra chair for our party but went and got one ourselves in the end. Also a better idea would be to have the fruit juices with the cereal station so you could just help yourself rather than wait for one person to take your order. Breakfast was good especially the sausages.

Need some work on service issues like cleaning up common areas, removing used glasses and coffee cups, etc. Dinner was good but overpriced in my opinion.

Chilling at Chilston

I stayed at the Chilston during the half term break and found the hotel to be a delight. Friendly service, good restaurant, and beautiful grounds:6We needed a peaceful break from London and this hotel gets a thumbs up from us.
