Lovely hotel, great location

Posted 19-Apr-2017
Stayed the night before catching an early ferry. This was perfect for this with a lovely view from the room.

Only good for location - otherwise avoid

Posted 18-Apr-2017
I usually have to go through a very bad time to rate a place poorly. Our stay at the Best Western Dover was regrettable since we found the staff inexperienced and unhelpful when we encountered problems. One was that the hot water ran only through the faucet and not the showerhead so we had to take a either a cold shower, or sitting down to get hot water. Two, heater did not work. Luckily it wasn't so chilly out to go through much cold indoors, yet still late at night it would have been nice. The floors are slanted and that's just the way the hotel is built; somewhat dizzying. Lastly, beds very small and tv setup was so bad on the wall and close to beds it was nearly impossible to walk by withhout bumping your arm into it. The hotel does have a decent lobby for a drink and ambience is not bad. Food was unfortunately terrible too, had a nicoise salad with probably frozen tuna heated in a microwave. If you have a choice, stay clear of this place.

One night layover

Qwerky place with oddly slopped floor (which they acknowledge ). Small room, narrow hallway, 183 year old place, with a wonderful view. Also a great breakfast on a great patio.

Nice Hotel

Posted 25-Mar-2017
Pros: Lounge/bar area nice to relax in with great views (when it's not foggy)
Stayed two days but one would have been enough. Hotel was good but the town is very run down and not very inviting. It was very foggy when we were there so didn't get to see too much, pity.

Quick Overnight Stay

Posted 18-Mar-2017
I've stayed here many times and prefer it to other hotels in the area. We were able to check in early which was a real blessing because we had just flown in from the US that morning and were exhausted. Lovely breakfast the next morning. Thanks for everything!

I stayed only one night for B&B and lunch and my stay was totally satisfactory. Room service , soup and roll and butter, was I thought expensive. Breakfast and lunch were copious and staff courteous - but why the piano during lunch which could scarcely be heard anyway over the conversation ! Why the dazzling light from the Reception counter ?

Reception staff weren't the best, normally st s best western they're super! Hotel room was small, ok on the cleanliness. Bath room could have been cleaner. Overall 3/5
