Good parking, good view of the sea.

The hotel is old and needs doing up, but the food was very good. They had a wedding on the Saturday and it took over the hotel, there was nowhere you could go to have a drink and get away from the wedding, and it took me 20 minutes at the bar to get a drink. The hotel is trying to run the place with minimum staff and it shows !!

Great hotel right on the sea front.

Posted 24-Aug-2015
Pros: Clean, modern, family friendly, staff.
Location: We had a lovely walk along the front and then into the town. There were lots of different places to get food and quite a few shops.
We stayed here as we were catching the ferry from Dover to Calais and am so glad that we did. The staff were extremely welcoming and the room was great. The room was so clean and beautifully presented and the bed was so comfortable - it was extremely difficult getting out of it at five in the morning to catch a boat! Would definitely recommend to friends and family to stay here.

Beach Hotel

Posted 15-Aug-2015
Pros: Handy for town / port etc
Cons: See above
Location: Lots to do if you have a car, with Canterbury only 14 miles / Dover Castle etc
Bit far for parking, especially if raining. Room very small, need more staff in dining room - rest good

Hotel close to the Cruise Ship Terminal

Pros: Location.
Cons: On the entrance beside the steps have something to roll the luggage.
Very handy hotel close to the Cruise Ship Terminal. Old fashioned beach hotel in English style.

Pros: Convenient location to town and beach.
Location: Dover castle is great.
Lovely location right on the beachfront. A bit "busy" with business meetings going on.

Close to the White Cliffs for hiking, Dover Castle for sightseeing and not too far from Canterbury for history.

Excellent location for seeing Dover

Posted 16-Jun-2015
Pros: Rooms were basic but very comfortable. Location excellent for daily trips out for walking, ferry and the Dover Castle
Location: Didn't have time to try the shopping centre. White Cliffs, Dover Castle, the Dover Ferry Terminal and the beach were all very convenient.
The hotel's architecture and history is very interesting. Excellent location for the White Cliffs, Dover Castle and the Dover-Calais ferry. Bar food definitely fit the bill after long days of walking. Will stay here again.

Pros: Nothing
We wanted to have a good nights sleep before taking the ferry to Calais and it was completely impossible. The mattress was old and saggy, the room very hot and noisy. At the early time we left there was no coffee or tea available.

A Great Western negaitive, hardly a 'Plus'

Posted 27-May-2015 on Hotels
Disappointed to find that we were put up in a very small 'double room' which would have been hard pressed to accommodate one. This meant that for 3 days and nights we were forced to live out of a suitcase. After complaining we were offered an adjoining room which was twice the size and a true double and this for the same price! The restaurant was 'tired' with poor décor and some inattentive, untrained staff. Whilst they tried to portray themselves as a 'first class' there were no table cloths and damaged tables, the meal on the first night was to a very poor standard, uncooked steak, over priced wine and a cold dessert. All these points were raised at the time to both restaurant staff and management and at no point did the Manager, who was on the premises at the time, come to discuss these issues with us. Breakfast was very good, however it would have been nice to have been informed that if you book breakfast the night before you are entitled to a reduce price, something we only learned on day 5 of our 6 day stay. Similarly the bar prices are well above those one would expect to see in a hotel if this size and at £8 for a glass of wine I would expect to see table service, none was available.
