The hotel is a bit dated but currently undergoing renovation so we upgraded to one of their finished rooms which was really nice, I think if they continue the great look and feel for the rest of the hotel it's going to look really nice. Hotel felt safe and within walking distance to Canterbury town centre only 10 minutes away. Breakfast was good but dining room requires updating so be good to see once all the work has been carried out. Keep up the good work.

The staff were wonderful, really polite and helpful even offering to help get bags up. There was renovations going on so the dining options were limited but the pizzas they were making were lovely. Convenient for getting into town and the rooms were comfortable and cosy.

The refurbished parts ofvthe hotel are very high standard the rest should be finished early next year. Breakfast was lovely, cooked to order.

Clean, comfortable and convenient
Stay was good but unfortunately bar and restaurant closed for refurbishment. Perhaps price should have reflected this although pizzas and limited drinks were offered on room service. Very friendly and helpful staff. Poor design in bathroom as wash hand basin was far too high with bowl set on top of high vanity unit with towel rail set immediately in front attached to unit. Better signage needed on approach to hotel.

The hotel looks scruffily and uninviting from the road . The sign was almost hidden with overgrown bushes etc , but the hotel itself is good , clean with nice comfortable rooms , halls and a lift . It’s a good base for exploring Canterbury .

Comfortable stay but breakfast was seriously poor
The check in was great and the desk staff were excellent. The room was clean but very tired and dated, the room could seriously do with a makeover. and the view from our room was somewhat disappointing. The breakfast service was appalling, we stayed for three nights and not once was our order correct., worse being on our second day I ordered plant based bacon as I am a vegetarian and I was served real dead pig 😒. The other two days neither me or my wife were served what we had ordered.. We had a drink in the bar one evening and the barman (French guy I believe) was very good, excellent service.

Nice night away
Nice hotel within walking distance of the town centre, with plenty of on site parking. Our room was spacious, with 2 comfy chairs - a definite plus. We enjoyed both the dinner and breakfast. A good place to stay for a night away.

Location was good about 20 minute walk to heart of the city. Fantastic independent shops and lovely little cafes and pubs. Hotel was dated and tired looking. It was ideal for location and a couple of nights stop over, but no wow factor.

Pleasant Stay
My stay was pleasant. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The only slight problem was that the toilet didn't flush properly. I told the staff as we left and I am sure they will look into this.

Old style mansion house converted into a Hotel. A lot of old features have been kept. The place is warm and cosy with a sense of calm and tranquility, while being only 15 minutes walk to the Cathedral.

Happy and convenient stay
I read various reviews of the hotel, some of which gave some mixed responses. Our experience was positive. We had a very welcoming and helpful first experience at reception when we checked in. It was explained that due to the Covid restrictions that there would be no housekeeping visits to our room whilst we stayed, but anything we needed (extra coffee/milk and shower gel was happily provided). We ate in the restaurant one evening and had bar sandwiches another day, no complaints on either aspect. Breakfast was ordered from a wide selection and table service which set us up well for the day. It was obvious that like so many in the hospitality sector that the hotel was still getting up to speed, and was training new members of staff, but this didn't detract from our stay. Our room (standard room) was spacious and clean and exactly as one of the photos on the website. The one minor niggle (as so many hotels) is that not every room has a great view, but who goes just to look out of the window! The hotel is well located and within walking distance to the town centre.

Disappointing
A rather tired looking hotel and definitely not the cleaness either. Slightly surprised the room was changed when we stayed as told due to COVID-19 this couldn't be done so had to ask for extra towels and teas/coffees to be added. Wouldn't rush back here at all.

Time to refurb your hotel
The alarm bells started ringing when we stepped into the carpet lined lift. The hotel is rather dated throughout. The walls in the room were pretty thin. We could hear the couple in the next room talking and snoring in the middle of the night. The floorboards creak underneath the carpet. We could hear the occupants of the room above us stomping around like elephants. The door to the room had a gap of around an inch at the bottom. The soft door closers in the corridor have long since stopped working as they allow the doors to slam very loudly.

We booked a deluxe room. It was beautiful and very big. The staff was friendly and polite. I didn't like that our bathroom didn't have a shower but a bathtub and as I'm not a bath type of person, I had to hold the shower handle myself in order to get washed. Also toilet didn't have a toilet brush which is very weird. Breakfast was £11 pp and they have a selection of English breakfast, porridge, jams, cornflakes, granola, apple or orange juice, tea and coffee. The structure and furniture of hotel is very elegant. Park on site free of charge and 5 minutes walk to city centre. Really enjoyed our stay.

We had an evening meal at the hotel, the steak was tough even though we had it medium rare, my husband asked for a glass of wine but did not get it until he had finished eating his meal, the dessert was meant to have raspberry sorbet but came with vanilla ice cream with no apology/explanation. Breakfast was good especially due to circumstances at the moment except the toast was like warm bread not toast. I enjoyed the jacuzzi bath in the room and the beds were comfortable.

Very enjoyable stay close to Canterbury
Arrived around 1.45 just before check-in and parked easily with no issues. Car park is large and although some web sites say parking is on a "first come first served basis" there really is plenty of space to park so do not worry about this. The hotel is just a 10 or 15 minute stroll to the centre of Canterbury and is also around 20 minutes or so drive to Whitstable and Herne Bay. So very convenient. Room was a good size, clean and very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities and two armchairs. Water for the basin and bath was really hot which was very welcoming. There was also an electric radiator you could turn on and off as required. Breakfast was varied and included cereal, toast, full english etc. Service was excellent, and food was hot. Had two meals in the restaurant at night and although the selection was limited due to Covid-19, service and food was very good and a reasonable price. Personally, I would have liked sausages, mash and peas on the menu but that is just a suggestion. Also had an afternoon tea in the comfortable bar area which was very tasty and good value. Service again was very good and could not be faulted. Will certainly stay here again.
