Great Hotel North of the River

Posted 29-Jan-2016
Pros: Clean, no pet odors, no smoking odors, comfortable & warm. It's safe here.
Cons: More ice machines, an elevator and more selections at breakfast.
Location: North of the River is very safe. All of the typical restaurants are close. Gates & Bryants are just over the bridge. Casinos are close, too.
Check in was easy and quick. No pet odors (thank God). Nice clean room with really comfortable bed & pillows. Heater worked like a champ. Normal breakfast stuff. Housekeeping is exceptionally nice and efficient. Only one ice machine over by the office. Nice refrigerator & microwave in each room. Plenty of parking. Right by I-35 & I-29. North of the River is a very safe area. I've stayed here for 3 weeks. WiFi works great. Lots of channels on the TV. Close to grocery stores and restaurants. You can get to MCI, downtown, Light & Power, Zona, Westport, the Plaza, etc. in 20-30 minutes. 7/11 is within walking distance. Good shampoo, soap & water. Close to the casinos.

I renewed for more days

Posted 20-Jan-2016
Pros: Close to my friends. Comfy warm beds. Great WiFi.
Cons: It's so MUCH better than a 2 star.
Location: I-35 gets to Zona Rosa in 15 minutes, to downtown, the Plaza or Light & Power in 30 minutes. The airport in 20 minutes. It's safe north!
I was in room 102. The bed, pillows, blankets and sheets are all really comfortable. It's nice & clean. The staff was super nice. Everything works (heater, shower, microwave, TV, refrigerator, WiFi, hair dryer, etc.) It's in a safe area. Soaps & shampoo are nice. Breakfast was typical. They even had Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Bread. There are restaurants, grocery stores, Walmart, etc. just up Antioch Road. You are right by the freeway with none of the noise. There is plenty of parking. It's an older hotel, but in great condition. I grew up in this area. I stayed 2 nights and renewed for 3 more.

paper thin walls =poor night's sleep

Posted 19-Jan-2016
Having looked at the photos online the hotel seemed nice and the price was excellent. I was shocked to discover upon arrival that all the doors were on the outside and it was a motel. It was also not in a good area. I spend the night worried about safety and being constantly woken by the noise all around us because the walls were so thin. Having said all of this, the rooms were very clean and nice looking. It was not the city break I had hoped for. Breakfast was pretty good. Overall it was a very comfortable place not to sleep.

Super Clean Rooms, Nice Breakfast

Posted 02-Jan-2016
Pros: Just off junction of I-35 and I-29. Ten minutes from the Kansas City Convention Center. Easy access to airport and downtown.
Even though this is an older property, it is surprisingly well maintained and clean. The staff are super friendly and ready to help. The breakfast room has a kitchen worker tending to it, keeping everything well-stocked. Breakfast includes some hot items: waffles, oatmeal, eggs, biscuits & gravy; as well as 4 kinds of cereal, 2 fruit juices, coffee, milk, yogurt, and fresh fruit. The wifi was also problem-free. We felt like we got a 4-star motel for a 2-star price. Definitely will stay here again!

For Short Visits

Posted 07-Nov-2015
I chose a King, Smoking room. While this hotel is well kept, clean and super friendly, the remodel seems to be already dated. That is not an ethical thing to state as a selling point if the rooms aren't even updated with sinks, faucets, toilets and fixtures. And the renovations aren't even complete. The carpets, tv and bedding do seem newer but already outdated. Bed was updated with a down alternative-type pillow topping. Super comfortable. Sucky small pillows. But honey, the staff is exceptional! Becca was my liason during my stay and she was on the money! As I waited my turn, she advised a couple about Kansas City's casinos and restaurants. She was very thorough and took the time to explain and give directions to attractions in other neighboring metropolitan areas. Great to see that level of customer service that seems elusive in this world. The breakfast was actually good! The security is outstanding and this is a quiet place to rest. No elevators but very user friendly. Free wifi. Ample, safe and well lit parking with a convenience store within walking distance.

Eh...For The Price

Posted 05-Nov-2015
While the staff is outstanding, Becca specifically, the smoking rooms need dire attention if this is this hotel's "remodeled" state. Clean the light fixtures, curtains and the carpets periodically in order to maintain the rooms better.

CJ was great.

CJ was very helpful and did a great job. I had to get a cable from my presentation the next day and he gave me directions to a location at 10pm to get one. He was very friendly and made checking in a great experience.
