Fun experience

Posted 10-Apr-2018
We had theee nights on the Jungle Rafts. Loved jumping in and floating down the river every day. Did some fun tours, loved the style of the hotel, comfortable beds and hammocks. It was nice not having electricity and the river breeze kept it from getting too hot. As lovely as it was, I found it incredibly expensive compared to other places in Thailand.

Amazing location

Posted 05-Mar-2018 on Hotels
Ask yourself one question before you come here: Would I enjoy an outdoor experience like camping? If the answer is yes, you will like it here. In the middle of nowhere on the river, removed from civilization, it is hot during the day and gets cold at night. It's actually much more comfortable than camping because you have a nice bed, bathroom, and restaurant. I'd recommend bringing your own flashlights (the room is very dark), batteries for electronics you use (without internet, obviously, 3G signal is also very poor at the hotel), and ice (to keep stuff cold). If you can't do without the electricity, definitely still stay at their sister property, Float House. You won't regret it. A couple small complaints I've seen in other reviews: It's true the staff isn't super-friendly, rooms are small, and the bathroom in our room smelled bad. Also be aware you have to arrive at Phutakien Pier before 6PM every day to catch the last boat. Complaints from other reviews I found not be true: Very few boats passed by our room because this is the farthest river hotel from the pier, and we were in the last section of the hotel. It was very peaceful.

NO ELECTRICITY

Posted 13-Feb-2018
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Be upfront and honest and make sure people are aware that there is no electricity and not just find out when they arrive.
Very disappointed in this place, we arrived only to be informed that there was no electricity. Which meant that there was no Air Conditioning, no Fans and most importantly no Hot Shower, as we had both only just recovered from head colds the last thing we wanted were cold showers. I was in total shock as we had no prior warning of these conditions. I went back and had a closer look at the page that l made the booking on and sure they did not claim that they had all the thing l am saying they did not have. If they had stated in bold print that they had NO ELECTRICITY we would have known the true situation and could have decided differently. We had booked and paid for 3 nights. Only stayed 12 hours, couldn’t get out of there quick enough. We spoke to quite a few other guests and they all told us they were unaware that there was no electricity till they arrived

Dear John, Thank you for your recent stay at River Kwai Jungle Rafts and for sharing your feedback with our hotel. We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay and had to cut it short. However, there are many pages on our sites that inform our guests that there is no electricity and internet available at the accommodation. This can be found for instance in the FAQ's Section, Concept and Design Page, in the footer of the website, in Activities, on the Main Homepage of the Website and the Rooms Page. Moreover, to make sure our guest know what they choose for, there is a box that has to be clicked on before booking. This indicates that all information about the accommodation and what is provided, is read before agreeing on the booking. The booking cannot be completed before this information has been read and the box had been clicked on. Kindest regards, River Kwai Jungle Rafts

Dear Marshall, Thank you for your recent stay at River Kwai Jungle Rafts and for sharing your experiences to other travelers. Choosing not to use electricity here is actually because of the conservation of our unique concept and atmosphere. It is where you are not 'connected' to hassle time during daily work life. It is your time to stay with nature and appreciate it. Now it is actually one of the best periods to visit River Kwai Jungle Rafts because the forest is still thick and green. Much less/ no rain. The weather is sometimes relatively chill during the night and the morning. Again thank you for staying with us and we look forward to welcome you back in the near future. Kindest regards,

Unique experience but unfriendly staff

Posted 06-Jul-2017 on Wotif
It was great to be so far away from civilization but all the staff were really unfriendly (very different from every other experience we've had in Thailand! We had to change rooms when we arrived as the bed was covered in something (bug eggs?) and there wasn't even an apology. We enjoyed our stay but didn't think it was good value for money

Great area to relax, nice relaxing atmosphere. Liked the flowers and landscape of the place...great for pictures! Beautiful and worth the drive. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was very good (included in the price of the hotel which is a great deal)!!! The rooms should be upgraded a bit.

Due to our ecology conservation concept, the entire floatel does NOT use electricity but rather utilizes traditional kerosene lamps at night maintaining a true eco hideaway in nature.
