Weekend in Kaikoura

Posted 12-Sep-2017
We were in Kaikoura to celebrate our nieces 21st. Our unit at Alpine View was comfortable, clean and the location was handy to where we were spending our time. The beds were super comfy and having kitchen facilities with a supermarket just down the road worked really well for us. The lady who checked us in was very nice and the beach was right behind us thru the gate. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

Nice motel

Posted 10-Sep-2017
Location: New World supermarket nearby, wee walk to the town maybe 20 minutes
Motel was basic but good, had everything we needed. There was lots nearby however we didn't feel it was close enough to walk to town (easily could be this was just how we felt at the time). Would stay here again

Posted 23-May-2017
Pros: Quiet, secure, comfortable
Cons: One hand towel had a distasteful smell. Otherwise no issues
Location: Handy to town, family the beach, lots of walks
Convenient friendly motel enjoyed my stay. Do not need to say more

We stayed in the lovely Kaikoura town for only 1 night but we wished we could stay longer. The motel is having some renovations done.... it is a nice motel and we stayed in a nice warm room..Lovely staff.

Recovering from the 2016 earthquake

Posted 27-Mar-2017 on Hotels
The area had suffered an earthquake about 5 months before our visit and the main road was still closed. This meant a long detour and as such the town and area were relatively quiet. Due to the seabed being raised about 2 metres some of the waterborne activities were limited numbers as the larger whale watch and dolphin encounter vessels can no longer dock. Smaller vessels are being used so the trips are still on but booking is essential to avoid disappointment. It was a fascinating and beautiful area and one that I would have liked to stay longer.

Our room was clean, functional (including kitchenette) and spacious for 3 people.
