plus points:self contained resort means its very safe, good facilities, excellent food, variety of restaurants, lovely beaches, clean warm seas, staff very helpful, free courtesy buses to all the main shopping malls. well appointed , very clean rooms.
minus points: sea views spoilt by concrete foundations of the huge second 'palm' development, alcohol expensive( wine £30 per bottle minimum), isolated location- no public transport links. This hotel used to share facilities/restaurants with the palm tree court on the same resort site- but now the beaches are separated , and the open-air dining area at the palm court isn't accessible unless you pay extra. The main restaurant used for breakfast and dinner is all indoors- which is a shame considering the beautiful position of the hotel, and the great climate.
tip: if you want to see something other than shopping malls, take a free hotel bus to a shopping mall, then get a metro( clean/easy/cheap) to the old end of town , near the creek, for the souks and water buses( abra),
We were visiting family resident in Dubai and the hotel is located close to where they are living. Excellent hotel which has direct access to a small shopping mall. The hotel is located in a residential area in the suburbs and not really suitable for people wishing to spend their time in downtown Dubai or on the coast - extensive travel required. However for those who want to relax around the pool and enjoy the restaurants the hotel is ideal. The hotel is busy at the weekend when the local expats visit with children for the brunch but it is not a clubbing scene.
The front desk manager, Quintas, is worthy of a mention for his exceptional customer service.
Jebel Ali, 35 kilometres south-west of the city on the Abu Dhabi road, is a free zone with a large expatriate population and over 5,500 multinational companies. The coastline is home to gleaming waterfront high-rises, and one of Dubai's futuristic 'Palm Island' projects is taking shape offshore. The new international airport is located in Jebel Ali along with Dubai's huge port, an artificial harbour capable of handling the world's largest ships.
