The master bedroom shower needs some work and the living room only has a couch so not really good for six people in you wanted to sit in the living room. Due to Covid the kitchen is cleaned out after each visit so it lacks any spices should you want to make a meal. The plus side is there is a washer and dryer in the house. "We enjoyed our stay at Tropical Villa. The villa is located uphill in a quiet neighbourhood and it was lovely to sit outside on an evening looking out to sea and watching the stars come out. We particularly appreciated the pool and the parasols (three) in the pool area. The villa was very well stocked and comfortable."

"Lovely atmosphere without any kids. The hotel was fully booked but didn't feel crowded. The deluxe room was worth it - lovely coffee from the coffee machine and a little bar/fridge & robes. The location was a short way uphill out of the town but in a nice area and not a long walk for anyone with reasonable fitness, There were plenty of buses. You could walk downhill to a bus stop and get off further uphill on the way back. There was also a hotel minibus into the town. We had a great stay! "

"Lovely brand new hotel with nice room decor. Good sound proofing and outside balcony. The hotel is not central Funchal. It's about a 40 minute walk into the centre. However, we like walking so for us it was a great. The walk into Funchal is lovely. In addition, there is a shopping centre and many restaurants close by. The breakfast was reasonable but not outstanding. Very much a self service concept including coffee making machines. The only real negative was that although the balcony is spacious the rooms themselves are on the small side. When the weather is good you can be outside on the balcony but if the weather is bad there is not any coffee table or seating for two people to sit other than the bed. "

"We came for two days - we stayed five. Is there more to say? The gym? Nice! The spa? Nice. The pool? Nice! I had a burger at the bar on day one. Not the best one. We ate outside at the Italian restaurant nearby for the other days. Highly recommended. The staff at Saccarum was more than helpful and nice. All of them. The beds are comfortable. Very important for me. "
