It was the best blend of old and new. There are three bedtime, each with it's own bathroom. The bath attached to the bedroom on the first door has only a tub and not a shower but there's also a separate little bath with a shower on the first floor. Unfortunately there was construction happening in a property behind the house so it wasnt pleasant out there until they left around 4pm. An issue about Jacksonville now is rentals cannot offer recycling!!! Because that matters to us we brought home bittkes and newspapers. ##### Susan I. The grounds are beautiful with daily deer visits. Rooms were spacious and well-appointed. Glad the host included the history of the property. This gorgeous house is in the perfect location with all the amenities. The outside grounds are beautiful and it was such a treat to have deer visit us every morning and evening while relaxing in the backyard. The host was very responsive and helpful. This is our second stay at the B.F. Dowell House.... which really tells you everything! It is simply vacation perfection. The house and grounds are simply wonderful. The house is immaculate. The decorations are appropriate the historical era of the home, while also being and beautiful and comfortable. The location could not be better. Well within walking distance of everything Jacksonville has to offer. Relaxing mornings and evenings spent laughing in the garden were even further enhanced by deer and turkey family units meandering through. We have already booked our next stay and cannot wait. We were in Jacksonville visiting family and were lucky enough to find this home. It is absolutely gorgeous and fully stocked with everything you need to feel at home.
