Great location, so-so hotel
This is not a 4-star hotel and should not be rated as such on Hotels.com. My room looked nothing like the photos the hotel advertises on websites. I was relegated to the back end of the hotel. While the room was clean and had a very comfortable bed, the bathroom reeked of sewage and mould. The walls are also paper thin, so you hear everything going on in the rooms around you. The staff is mediocre in terms of help and friendliness, probably because they appear to be short staffed at the check-in counter. That being said, the hotel sits in an excellent location - an easy walk to Sultanahmet Square and the Grand Bazaar.

Nice simple hotel - has WIFI & Bar so everything you need for a quick overseas trip. Shower is an over the bath one - but bath is very small and therefore not ideal.

This is a nice hotel tucked into a great location within Old Istanbul. Prices are cheap compared to service and staff friendliness. This was a very pleasant surprise.

Many other visitors on the same floor waking at 5 am , talking to each other as if it's their home. The reception always not free for clients.

Great Hotel and great location
We stayed 2 nights at the Antik after our cruise. The staff were friendly and helpful and the upstairs restaurant was amazing and very romantic. Although the rooms are small having been on a ship for 4 weeks they were fine. Having a bathtub as well as a shower was a bonus. This hotel is within walking distance (5 minutes) of the Grand Bazaar and Blue Mosque. The power cards are sometimes temperamental but the staff are more than willing to replace the cards or fix the outlet. The only problem we had was with a recommended tour. It was horrible. It was a half day tour that was supposed to take us into the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and then the Grand Bazaar. We spent most of the time on the bus getting to the embarkation and disembarkation point. We did not get into the Blue Mosque as our guide said it would take too long. If he had been on time there would not have been a problem . We were then dumped at the main gate of the grand bazaar and told to find our own way back. The hotel said they would deal with them however and we trust that they will do so to ensure that no other client is stuck with this same tour. All and all we would definitely book into the Antik again on our return to Istanbul.

Good location and value
The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The location is very near the Grand Bazaar. They made the arrangements for a tour. The tour company did not come to pick me up, but the hotel staff made contacts that got to the meeting place in time. The roof top restaurant was nice for meals (nicely prepared and presented) as well as for the included breakfast. The view of the Bosporus was good if you could ignore the industrial areas also in the view. The air conditioning was problematic and kept shutting off. I opened the window and that worked fine. I did not call and complain so they may have been able to adjust it properly. If you take a taxi back to the airport, be sure that the hotel knows you want a metered taxi, not their personalized service. It should cost about 40TL plus tip.

Hotel's location is good but rooms are small with very basic facility. No wardrobe and no tea/coffee facility in the room. Looking at the rooms' pictures on-line, we thought the views would be nice but we were allocated a room in the side extension which is connected to the main building through a corridor in the basement so if you want to go from 4th floor to the restaurant (5th Floor) in the main building, you need to take the lift to basement (floor -1), walk the corridor, take another lift to 5th floor!!!!

HOTEL CENTRALLY LOCATED. AMBIANCE POSITIVE. AN EXERCISE ROOM WOULD BE NICE. BREAKFAST FROM THE FIFTH FLOOR, WITH A PANORAMIC VIEW OF THE BOSPORUS IS TOTALLY A FULFILLING EXPERIENCE.

A Good Position - Helpful staff
Although the hotel is undergoing repairs on some floors - my request for a quiet room meant I was not disturbed. So if you think you will sleep beyond about 9.30am (when the work starts) ask the helpful staff for a quiet room in advance, and they will ensure you get one. The breakfast was good.

Centrally located hotel in Istanbul
Antik hotel was a very pleasant base for a 4 day break in this bustling city. The new tram system is a great way to access the main sights of Istanbul and it is just minutes from the hotel, though both the 'Blue Mosque' and the Grand Bazaar are within easy walking distance. Staff in the hotel were unfailingly friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious, modern and spotless. The roof-top restaurant, with views over the Bosphorus, was a wonderful place to watch the October sun rise, whilst having breakfast. Istanbul is an incredible, vibrant, welcoming city, we were on the go from dawn to dusk and only scratched the surface in 4 days. The Antik hotel provided a welcome haven in the evening, offering all we expect in a keenly priced hotel. Perhaps the only drawback is the initial appearance of the end of the street which has a large boarded up building, clearly outwith the control of the hotel itself.

The hotel was very clean. It was missing air conditioning and was very hot in the room (visited 24th Oct.Staff hardly speak english and nor informed about happennings in istambul for tourists. It was missing coffee maker and a kettle. The bed was hard to sleep.Break fast was good. I requested for hot water and they wanted money for it!!

Great location -
A well presented establishment within walking distance to most of the major tourist features of istanbul. Staff friendly and accommodating, rooms comfortable not over big but suit the purpose. Tram station 2minute walk. WiFi free but a little slow. Overall you could do a lot worse - good value.

very noisy hotel , you can hear everything happening in the corridor and adjacent rooms, staff are not nice, the room was not ready when we arrived however we arrived at 4 while the room was supposed to be ready at 2 and the bathroom is extremely small.

Overall I found the service quite good. Staff by the name of Ceyhun was very helpful - thank you Ceyhun!! Hotel and rooms were clean, however there were times when an unpleasant odour was present in the bathroom - mould perhaps?! Overall stay was nice and some staff were as helpful as they were able. A 10 minute stroll to Sultanahmet - nice sourroundings and walk to restaurants etc.

I really enjoyed my stay here the price was a little pricey but it at.east included breakfast and wifi which was a fairly good speed in the room. The breakfast was not bad the only thing was that the drinks tasted fake and the fresh orange juice costed more that regular price else where I thought it should have been included. The other thing that I didn't like at all was the service not one person is friendly who works at the desk even when they see you they ignore you I have never heard them say "hello" or " have a great day" other wise I had a good time because I wasn't at the hotel all day and yes there is a little odour that comes from the bathroom I think it's the sewage.

The room temperature was more and there was no A/C in the room. The room used to get very hot inside. There was lot of noise outside the room even at the night because of construction going on-not the fault of hotel.

First trip to Istanbul
I love this hotel. The staff was friendly. The beds were so comfortable I wanted to buy the bedding. The breakfast buffet was very nice as well. The location was w/i walking distance of all the main attractions/shopping.

Average hotel with too high of a price
Most of the pictures posted did not look anything like the hotel we stayed at. The cistern (one of the 2 restaurants and bars) in the basement was closed during our stay, which was a big let-down. The breakfast buffet was not very good at all with little selection and a choice between undercooked hard-boiled egga and watery powdered eggs. Our oom was much smaller than we anticipated with walls so thin that the hotel felt the need to rig the t.v.'s so that the volume only goes up to a level that is barely audible. On the plus side, the hotel is located right across the street from the Grand Bazaar and is only a 10 minute walk from the Hagia Sofia and Bllue Mosque. The staff were all very attentive and welcoming as well.

This place needs a major update. While the room was comfortable (junior Suite), the decor and furniture need replacing. As well, the ventilation system allowed cigaret stench to travel between rooms.

Staff very freindly & courteous - could not have been more helpful. Room clean and adequate although bathroom a little tiny. Plentiful hot water, but shower ararngeemnt could have done with a flexible hose on the shower head. Would use the hotel again because of the staff attitude.

unbeatable location for the price
The head desk clerk (male) was extremely helpful & pleasant, as was another man who took his place over the holiday week. One desk clerk, a young woman with long light-colored hair,was not at all helpful, at any time! My room key (electronic card) had to be changed 5 days out of 13 because it didn't work, and the bed was so hard I had to fold the extra bedding & sleep on it. Otherwise, everything FINE.
