Staff helpful, general decoration in need of update very tired. No food besides breakfast available. Rooms basic, towels left damp after use heating in bathroom to dry them.No room cleaning on one day.

Room was clean, quiet, and larger than expected for a single room. Parking was very convenient. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice and you could pick what you wanted. Downside was that towel was not replaced, even though I stayed for almost a week. The carpet in the corridors to the rooms looked quite grubby and if this was replaced I think it would make a big difference, as the hotel does have a lot of positive points but doesn’t give a great first impression.

Horrible four flights of narrow dingy stairs to room. No lift! Horrible 1940s carpet. In desperate need of modernisation. Shower didn’t work. Room smelled of unbearable old socks

5 nights at Gracellie
We had a sea view room which was nice comfortable and clean with a good bed. All the necessary things worked well - shower bath and toilet. View was ok but spoilt slightly by the window privacy stripes to stop hotel rooms across the road seeing in or hide the large flat roof before the sea view. It is a work in progress and they are doing their best with a good bar and pool also a really nice resteraunt with outdoor decking area which is also the breakfast room with a decent selection cooked well. Could keep the carpark / front area better by weeding as it is the first thing you see whether passing or visiting. We would stay again. Thank you.

The manager was excellent and could not do enough for us. The bar was good but needed a clean. Breakfast was very good. Bedroom was a bit run down and seemed toshed over.

Fabulous
Where do we start, from arrival the staff, from mangemenrf all the way to housekeepoing, were so welcoming and friendly. The rooms were above clean. The breakfast was freshly cooked and very nicely presented. We will definitely be staying there again soon

Hotel looking fairly tired, rooms need a complete revamp, breakfast and breakfast staff excellent. If you can get a break at the right price than overall acceptable.

Sea view room, recommend!
Stayed with family in a sea view room. It was spacious and clean, the view was amazing. Great amenities in the room. Food was great - we had breakfast and dinner, cannot fault a thing. Sensational home made chicken nuggets for the kids and butter chicken curry was great. Service was genuine, it would have helped if we were told to use our own key to get into the property once the front door shuts in the evening, but other than that it was all full marks. This is not a minus in any way but if staff wore name badges, I would be thanking them by name in this review. Will definitely book again, thoroughly enjoyable experience.

The staff at Gracellie are utterly fantastic, and really made the stay. Whilst the rooms look a little bit run down, the friendly staff and location make this a lovely place to stay. The hotel is a very brief walk from Shanklin beach, and the bus stop and train station are very close. Shanklin old town, Shanklin Chine and Sandown are all walkable distances too.

A bit disappointing
Pool wasn’t open which was disappointing as the whole reason I chose hotel & the fact they accept dogs. Room & bathroom very small. No chair/stool at dressing table. Fabulous staff though that really welcomed you & made our stay enjoyable

Rooms aren't made for families. The building is too old and needs refurbishing. Breakfast was very economical. Continental food is served with barely enough in the plate for an adult person. The hotel needs to think about this.

Reasonably priced, rooms basic but all the staff were so friendly and welcoming we loved it. It is a steep walk to the seafront and the beach lift closes at 1800hrs so worth bearing in mind.

The hotel was clean and spacious. Would had been a little better if the pool was working or I was told before hand when I booked as that's what my 2 kids wanted. But that wasn't a problem as we made our own fun. The kitchen was closed and we didn't receive breakfast. Bit the staff were so lovely and very family friendly.

Amazing view!
We had a lovely welcome by friendly staff. Perfect location with an amazing view. Breakfast was excellent. Reasonably priced! Also dog friendly which was very important to us! Lovely stay, would recommend!

Thank you so much for your review. We've been having issues with our WiFi and have installed various technical bits to improve this but unfortunately this seems to be an island-wide problem and our old building with thick walls doesn't help matters!

An amazing experience and place lovely staff that went above and beyond expectations. Although all conditions in the hotel weren't spot on ie fixtures and fittings (due to age of the building) the wonderful personality of the friends and family that run this establishment leaves you feeling better than you when you arrived. The bathrooms are refurbished to a high standard and location handy to beach, train and local shops. The bar a fun and jovial place for customers, residents and any walk-ins equipped with a dart board, patio, pool table and a quite side to relax and chat or play a selection of games. Being a seasoned traveller was pleasantly pleased with my stay. Thank you to Kelly, Charlotte, Laura, Kai for stepping up in the kitchen and all the other congenial and lovely members of staff for making my stay a happy and memorable experience.

Itvwas our first time to the island and it couldnt have been a more perfect location, 2 minute walk to the beach. Staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. Room was a nice size and breakfast was lovely. Can't wait to come back next summer.
