Charming comfortable cottage

This cottage has all you need for a relaxing stay. This was my family and I 4th year staying in this cottage and we were very comfortable. Great location with short walk to the beach. The pool was our granddaughter’s favorite activity! We hope to come back again next year.

Very comfortable home

Our stay was very comfortable in this home. The house has everything you will need plus a swimming pool. Location is great just a short walk to the beach and short drive to shops. Cleanliness wasn’t that great after we were there for a couple of days we realized the floors weren’t mopped when we spilled water on the floor and the cloth was very dirty after wiping it up. Overall it’s a lovely home and comfortable.

False Advertising

Here are the issues, I'm just going to list them off: 1. Pool area was unkempt and dirty. Pool area funiture was old and dirty/stained/rusty. 2. One set of sliding doors in living room were so foggy you couldnt see out them, and the doors werent functioning. 3. No pot for coffee maker. 4. Smoke alarm batteries died while we were there and started beeping in the middle of the night. 5. Found straight pins in carpet and in bed. 6. Playset advertised is old, rickey and dirty...no way my 3 year old was playing on that even though it was part of the reason we chose this home. 7. Cobwebs in corners/ceilings 8. Kitchen island has been painted over and paint is chipping off. 9. Only ONE tv in the house out of 6 or 7 actually connected to cable or wifi. Couldn't get any of the others to connect. 10. Was given wrong wifi info at check in. Finally found a sign in the kitchen after we had been there a day with correct info. Very disappointing overall. Photos do NOT indicate what you're getting. Property is just unkempt. The porches and fences outside are filthy, weeds growing through the pool fence. Overall, do not recommend. The management company tried to help and did resolve a few issues (but not all by any means) but never offered a discount or refund. We feel like we wasted our money and that we were totally duped into renting something that is not as it appears in the listing. Definitely will not be back.

Short walk to the beach, property needs some TLC

Pros:The inside of the home was very spacious and was as advertised. Has a very cozy feeling. The private pool was clean and a very nice amenity. Short walk to the beach, we used the beach access trail and 46th ave to get to the beach. Cons: The outside yard, fence and pool furniture need some up keep. The advertised playground in the description should be torn down as it is not safe.

Nice layout needs updating

It was great to have the pool and a one level layout. Bedrooms were spread out nicely throughout the house. The condition is shabby and is in need of updating as the website pictures do not reflect the current condition. The pool furniture and deck has not been cleaned in a long time. We bought some cleaner and got the furniture presentable for our family. Pool was filled with leave debris and took us a while to get the leaves of the bottom and top. The kitchen was equipped with most things, but there was no wine glasses for we wine drinkers. Needs some love and attention.

Love the house, hate the mosquitoes

We thought the house was lovely, the location to the beach was great but the mosquitoes were so bad that we couldn’t use the pool or pool area at all. At first we were displeased with how dingy, messy and unkept the pool area was but then it made sense (no one can use it).

Lovely home with awesome beach access

4 Abalone Alley is a beautiful and welcoming home! We just came back from our third visit to this property! The home is beautifully decorated and very cozy. We have visited with small children and the layout allows for the kids to go to bed in the evening and the parents to have some adult time without the worry of being super quite. Total bonus! We love the quick beach access as well! Very close to a lot of great restaurants and amenities. Highly recommend!

One-Level entry

I was impressed with several of the updates for what is a dated property. One of the pluses for this property is everything is on one level, which makes for easy carrying in of suitcases, coolers ect.

We were very pleased with the location and the pool was amazing. The washing machine did not work, and local laundromats were extremely expensive. Ease of use and beach access were excellent. Overall fun time.

Perfect house!

This house is perfect for a small family! We didn't use the playground-it looked a little shaky. If you have ANY issues with the pool, contact the OWNER (the phone number to text is on the bullentin board in the kitchen) not Vacasa! Owner is super nice. The home is lovely, it was really great to not have to climb stairs. Short walk to the beach, go to the right to 46th street. We would love to stay here again.

Mosquitos were a problem inside and outside of house.

The house is very comfortable with plenty of room for our family of 6. We love having the private pool and the two pool guys were very professional with their services. The house is beautiful and love the updates since last year when we stayed. Thanks for another wonderful week on the Isle of Palms!! June 2022.

We Love 4 Abalone!

This is our go-to family vacation home for its great floorplan, tons of sleeping space, a huge number of games and books for adults/kids, fully stocked kitchen, high chairs, strollers, pack n play, private pool, playground, and an easy walk to the beach!

Great Family Vacation Home!

I love this house! We (2 adults and several children including a very active toddler) choose to stay at 4 Abalone anytime we visit IOP and it never disappoints! No stairs is great for little kids! Already planning our next trip!

Looking forward to our time in this house to a sad disappointment!!!!

When we were looking for a vacation home to rent in the Charleston, SC area, (my wife was REALLY looking forward to this trip) we found all the beautiful homes on the Isle of Palms and really thought this was the place to stay. Then we found 4 abalone alley. A house on the security gate side of the wild dunes resort. A short walk to the beach. Found wonderful photos of this house. Then we pulled up to the house, surrounded by beautiful houses, wow. We thought we found an amazing house. As we walked up to the door our attitude slowly changed. The landscaping has been ignored, (when was the last time anyone landscaped at this house? Years?) Trash on the ground around the sidewalk to the front entrance. So, seeing that we starting to look very closely at this house as the days passed. Paint chipped on the red walls in the front entrance, light bulbs burned out, lamps with wrong bulbs, electrical switches not or partially working (check the main entrance dimmer switch, no dimming), under cabinet lighting rotting (bulb fell down), televisions/cable in the house was horrible! Only 1 television was fully functional, (we had to reset the modem multiple times to watch television) 2 televisions were not connected at all and the main living room television was turned on but there was no cable feed to it. HVAC grill covers not installed properly, plumbing, 1 bathtub was clogged(first shower)(had to use a plunger), bathroom with rain shower head(over 50% of the head spouts were clogged) right-hand sink is slow to drain and is loose on the base, the toilet seat in this room is not properly fitted and loose. (Sitting on it for the first time nearly resulted in a fall) the ceiling fan does not work, towels hooks are not attached properly. 2 sliding doors to the pool area are fogging because of age and condition. The garage is a storage dump after we saw that we parked outside the entire stay. The garage also needs a carpenter and a painter. (You offer this garage for guests to park in?) Speaking of paint, many locations on and in this house needs the paint refreshed. Especially the area around the sliding doors to the pool, (cracking, missing, mold) The pool was very clean and the water was good. Speaking of the pool area, fence board out, slab around the pool desperately needs power washed! The pool chairs are disgusting! Shouldn't the chairs be a bright white? We were VERY DISAPPOINTED to see and experience all this in such a neighborhood and for what we paid for the 5 nights and knowing you charge $810 per night plus fees? This was the worst part of our trip! We did take photos of what we saw and am very willing to share them with you. *************************************************** I wanted to highlight this issue separately. My wife found the bedroom she REALLY liked, as she pulled the comforter back she found dried blood on the sheet and pillow a case. In all the miles we have traveled we have never seen this! This is completely disgusting! I would think that the sheet and pillowcase should have been disposed of?!? VERY SAD!!!

Do Not Stay At This Property

We picked this house because of the pool and the home itself appeared to be really nice, in the photos. The pool was covered with green algae and we were never able to use it. We called every day (Fri-Mon) to ask to have it cleaned. Nobody ever came. VRBO said they couldn’t get in touch with the owners, to approve any cleaning of the pool. The stove top only has one eye that worked, and it was barely working. Kitchen was covered with ants. VRBO did come and place traps, for them. House was filthy. Pacifiers and other items, from previous guests, were left and shoved under beds. Sheets were stained. There was a large rat that took up residence in the back “yard.” The screen door was broken. The sliding glass door was covered with some type of film. This house has a lot of potential, if the owners would keep up with it and put in working appliances. It does not look like the photos. We were very disappointed and would not recommend this home to anyone.

Big house

Big spacious house that had quite a few nice surprises like baby strollers, beach toys, pool floats, high chair, waterproof mattress pad on one of the beds, games, etc. The pool area was very very slippery! There were a few doors that wouldn’t open. The sheets on the beds were really uncomfortable. Nice stay but it was far being down in Wild Dunes.

Great Space; Needs Upgrades

This is a great house with great potential! The location is amazing, the layout is perfect for large families, and it has all the amenities you need. However, this home lacks cleanliness and updating. There are a lot of cobwebs and dust throughout, appliances are outdated but work fine, and the landscaping is overgrown and in major need of some love (perfect breeding ground for bugs.) We had a small issue with the pool and Vacasa was VERY helpful. I do not have any complaints regarding the leasing agency, However, I think for the money the owners are receiving they could put a little extra TLC back into the property. If you only need a place to crash and a roof over your head this home will meet your need. If you prefer a more updated listing, this is not the home for you. My family and I fared just fine and the kids loved having the pool after a hot day at the beach.

Disappointed

The pictures online were not what it looked like, false advertising. The house was not clean. We had to report the pool was not usable. Cleaning people need to be checked on and maintenance people too. Someone from agency needs to make sure the property is ready for next renters.

Family Celebration

We loved having a private pool! Access to the beach is simple….. follow a path from the yard and walk a short block to the sand! The size of the house is wonderful for a large family. Each family dynamic had a “wing” of the house.

Great Family House

House is a short walk to the beach and is fully-equipped with baby gear - port-a-crib, high chair, swing, and strollers. Each bedroom has a TV and there is also a TV in the family room. Sliding glass doors from kitchen and living room make it easy to watch the pool area!

Nice location but house is not kept up or clean

Loved the location but house has not been kept up and was dirty. Found cob webs, stains on pillows, chairs in kitchen broken, chairs outside filthy, tons of flies...overall not clean. I would not stay at this location unless there is some serious up keeping done.
