my girlfriend and I visited the resort during the first week of October and it was really quiet, just the way we like it.
The all inclusive food and drink was very nice, but i would probably settle for a normal room instead of a "superior" upgrade.
The rooms are very comfortable. You can not hear your neighbors or outside noises. Feel free to get rowdy in your room, the walls are 18" thick so you will not desturb anyone. Ask for room service 24hrs a day, ask for anything 24hrs a day. No pool curfews or restricted beach access at the hotel. The food is five star, had a hard time wanting to eat anywhere else. Mixed drinks were a little weak, but the complimentary bottles of liquor in your room will allow you to stiffin your cocktails to desired levels. You can rent a golf cart at the hotel, make sure to reserve in advance. They will deliver requested food and items very quickly. The longest wait I had on room service was maybe 10 minutes. The staff is very friendly and good at suggesting activities.
We stayed at Na Balam in 2013 and loved it. We went for a music festival--Island Fest. When it was decided to hold the Island Fest on Isla Mujeres again this year we of course decided to stay at Na Balam again. We highly recommend the suite with the plunge pool. Having your own little pool to cool off and overlooking the beach is heaven.
Some reviewers complained about the noise from Fenix bar next door but we found that the loud music was more in the weekend afternoons.
The staff is very nice and helpful. Check-in went smoothly. We had and issue with the in room safe and the TV and they responded very quickly and fixed both.
Our room had a king size bed (very comfortable) and a sitting area. The room was clean and well laid out--plenty of drawers. Our room did have a TV but several other guests mentioned their's did not--last time none of the rooms had TV's so maybe they are just starting to put them in.
"Great location, dont have room high expectations"
Its right near the center, but the shower was awful without water pressure. They weren't willing to save us the suitcases packed inside the room till noon, so we had to pay extra for one hour late checkout (we were in a tour)

This all-suite, adult-only hotel is beautiful, quiet, and outside of the main area of town on Isla Mujeres. The staff is wonderful, attentive, and the pool and beach are very beautiful. Rooms are spacious, well air-conditioned, and comfortable. The food was very good - we did the beachfront dinner a few nights and enjoyed that very much.
"Beautiful hotel and studios on its own little isle"
Very clean and elegant hotel with gracious staff. Francisco greeted us and got us tucked into our very nice room. White, clean and colorful. One walks, taxis or is "triked" to this northernmost island off the island of Isla Mujeres. You must cross over the Bay of Mujeres and the Gulf on a bridge. We were there during the low season, so it was not crowded at all and yet there was plenty of staff for your every wish. The restaurant, bar and swim up pool bar were central with very good drinks and food. In the afternoons when not swimming in the Bay or Gulf there would be warm queso, salas chips and other snacks in the bar area. On the east side of the resort there is something called the "king's bath". With a lavish walkway you go down and reach the ocean and a naturally formed large pool in which you can snorkel or swim for a bit. We could see this from our tower and 6th floor room. With new owners they are doing some construction, but it never bothered us. We think the staff was trying extra hard to keep the dust down and such so no one was inconvenienced.
Accessible by ferry, Isla Mujeres is a major ecotourism destination. El Parque Natural Garrafón (Garrafón Natural Reef Park) features coral reefs inhabited by schools of fish. Giant sea turtles come ashore at Tortugranja to lay eggs. North of Isla Mujeres, thousands of rare and tropical birds roost at a natural sanctuary on Isla Contoy.
