This is a nice old hotel in a good location with easy access to everything. You unfortunately pay for the central location by the constant noise from Place Grenette (it goes on very late and starts very early) so ask for a room that doesn't face the square, which may help. You don't however hear much through the walls of the rooms except for the locking and unlocking of room doors. Our room on the top floor, was very small, overlooking the square (hence the noise) with views of the mountains from the small balcony (but not from the room itself). The bathroom was old and the shower hand held but everything worked. Toiletries were regularly replaced and everything cleaned daily. We chose to take breakfast at the hotel during our stay - fruit, cereal, yogurt, a small selection of cold meat/cheese, bread, croissants, brioche, jam, juice, water, tea, coffee (Nespresso) and hot chocolate. It was very nicely presented in a lovely dining room. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Grenoble is a small city so you can walk around it very easily otherwise the tram stop is very close to the hotel as is the old town with its narrow streets. We ate a couple of times at the Italian restaurants on the other side of the river, at Annie's American diner and at a lovely Tapas restaurant near the river close to the footbridge. It's not easy finding vegetarian meals in France! The museums are beautifully presented and free which is a bonus.
