An excellent experience for our one night stay. We liked the location and the view of the water. It's location is high enough to have breezes all the time and did not require us to use air conditioning. One does have to like the sounds of night in the tropics....the Co Qui (native Frogs) make a big sound for their size.
"great for a special occasion or just a get away."
we will forever have the memories of getting married on the beach at dusk. enjoyed the beach, pools, and the warm weather. only had one bad experience with a employee over the phone. the friendly restaurant manager took care of the problem. the fridge in the room is totally stuffed with EXPENSIVE items. that's fine but they could leave a little room for a couple of your things like meds that should be kept cool. food was a bit overpriced even for the high level of the resort. $19 hamburger??? I would have liked to see a little more regular food option on the menu.
The hotel is kind of in the middle of no where. Nothing is in walking distance. You should get a jeep from the nearby car rental place. Depending on your room you can get a terrace with a beautiful view of the mountains. The staff were nice. But the the front desk is only on property from 9-5. After 5 you're on your own. The rooms are fully equipped with a kitchen with plates and utensils.
I like that the hotel provides beach chairs, beach towels and coolers for guests to borrow. I like that they provide continental breakfast in the morning. I like that there are loose horses hanging all around the hotel. You literally will have a horse walk by you without its owner. I liked that the AC was super powerful. I was happy that there weren't many mosquitos in the room.
I disliked that the sheets and shower curtain were stained. I found a dead lizard behind the bed. I could tell that the lizard was dead for a long time. Doesn't seem like the staff thoroughly cleans the rooms.
For the price, I think the hotel in fine. I was hardly at the room because I was constantly going on vieques adventures. (Black beach, horse back riding, W hotel pool etc)
The hotel owner Maria and Joe are super friendly. Maria contacted us several times before our arrival and gave us advice on how to get to the hotel. After checkin, Maria made several calls to help us to book car rental, activities etc. There is not that much tips about Vieques on the internet and it's a big relief that a local residence can help us to choose the best options according to our needs. This hotel is the main reason that we had a fantastic time at Vieques.
