GReat place to stay in Iquitos
Great place to stay, staff very helpful. Iquitos is a VERY noisy city and so it is lovely to find a hotel that has rooms away from the main road, and therefore quiet! Bar and minibar prices very reasonable. I would definitely return, but ask for Room 106 which has a kitchenette!

This is a nice place to stay right across from the river. We stayed here one night before heading to the jungle. There was a small fridge in our room. We only ate the free breakfast at the restaurant but it was good. You can buy beers and water there for a fair price. The staff was very friendly.

Hotel is ok for the price. Maybe this is Iquitos. Stay one night before and after the jungle. One-way free pick up from airport only. Pay 20 soles for drop- off to airport.

The hotel itself is a historical building so the modern modifications must be taken with that into consideration. Our room had great air conditioning, lots of echo and light from the hallway (which again can't be helped) but hardly any street noise. Location was great, walking distance to many good eats, plaza del Armas and mercado. The staff was very kind and helpful, and the breakfast which was included was very good with a nice atmousphere. Highly ecommend this place for the price.

Clean, Comfortable, and Convenient
Our family of 6 stayed one night at Epoca after a stay at a lodge on the Amazon. The rooms were small but clean and quiet. The location was good, as it was a short walk to restaurants and local sights. The desk staff was very helpful with making sure we got to the airport to catch our plane back to Lima. This service was included in the price of the room even though our flight didn’t leave until several hours after our check-out. Perhaps the best thing about Epoca was the very comfortable lobby area where the six of us could hang out after our day’s activities until it was time to leave for the airport.

We chose to stay at the Epoca after doing extensive reasearch of hotel options in Iquitos. It's an isolated region and while there are quite a few lodging options, many appeared to be sub-par. The Epoca is a gem on the Amazon in terms of comport, services offered, and friendliness of the staff. The staff at this hotel are outstanding! We stayed two nights - one before our trip to the jungle and one after. Both times the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The check-in is extremely fast and efficient. The rooms are spacious, clean, and provide all necessary amenities. The included breakfast tasted excellent. We visited their restaurant twice and on both occasions found the atmosphere and food very good. Finally, they took our laundry after 4pm and returned by 8:30pm for a very reasonable price, which was a welcome relief after spending four days on the Amazon. Keep in mind this hotel is a converted house - our room didn't have exterior windows but was still reasonably light and airy. I highly recommend the Epoca when staying in Iquitos!

Lovely Historic Hotel
I was there with family and the room had 3 beds and a loft with a fourth. It is all packed in, but very nice and clean and we each got a bed of our own. It is a short walk from Belen market or Plaza of Arms (historic town center). The staff at this hotel were unbelievably friendly. Never felt like a hotel as much as staying with a family. We ate at the restaurant quite a few times. Breakfast was simple, but best tasting eggs ever. Dinners have a great selection and the fish from Amazon river are great! I would recommend this to any family or couple staying in Iquitos as a charming and relaxing place to stay. Great change from the big hotel chains we often stay at!

Great place on the melacon in Iquitos near nice restaurants one direction and the market in the other direction. The staff was very nice checking in and in the restaurant/bar. The room was clean, comfortable and the a/c worked great. Very enjoyable.

Comfort amongst the strangeness of Iquitos
We stayed here between heading out into the jungle and it was very comforting to return. The room was not air-conditioned which would have been nice amongst the humidity of the jungle, but otherwise it was a very comfortable room with nice bathroom.

Excellent Stay Close to the Amazon
Excellent position in the main centre of town overlooking the Amazon, a great place to stay if you are to participate in an Amazon tour. The hotel is heritage and has a great feel. The rooms are comfy, great helpful staff and has a nice restaurant.

ROOMS ON THE FIRST FLOOR 104 AND 105 HAVE BLACK MOLD ON THE WALLS AND CEILING. SMELL MOLD TERRIBLE. OTHER ROOMS WERE OK. STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND TRIED TO ACCOMMODATE OUR NEEDS. BUT NO OTHER ROOMS WERE AVAILABLE.

There was a musky/mouldy smell in the room the whole time we were there which maybe understandable as it is a very old hotel. The hotel desperately needs an uplift otherwise I will not stay there again.

A/C not working, requested a pedestal fan n got one. Light and ceiling fan, control on same switch, so at night if you turn off light to sleep, the ceiling fan also turns off. Night manager came to the room and unscrewed the bulb, so we could sleep and the fan running. Tried to take a shower at night, no hot water, manager came up and ran the water for more than 5 min. Still only cold water. He said to please take a shower next morning, he would turn up the temperature. Morning still no hot water. Left hotel without a shower. This hotel can't provide the most basic needs for a traveler. Comfortable bed, clean room and hot water to shower.

Nice hotel in good location. Friendly and h staff.
We spent three nights in total at Época. It's in a lovely old colonial building. Rooms were spacious though bathrooms a little cramped. Good shower and comfortable bed. Breakfast wasn't great, and after first morning we ate elsewhere. All staff were very helpful and friendly. The free airport pickup and drop off was much appreciated.

Really diligent about free pickup and dropoff. Which matters a great deal in a town where airport frauds routinely copy hotel/passenger names down and pose as your pickup driver. No room service and no restaurant but many food options nearby. Room and bathroom a little small and dingy but hot water worked well and hard to complain for this price. Sheets and linens perfectly clean. One of the better options in Iquitos. Staff mostly spoke good English and were helpful with referrals. One block from main commercial street for pharmacy and incidental needs and several blocks from the main concentrations of hustlers. Breakfast very basic but serviceable (eggs to order, fresh fruit bowl, coffee/tea).

Good historic hotel with great breakfast
Good and comfortable historic hotel in quiet part of Iquitos, a few blocks from the main square. The best part was the breakfast with made to order eggs, fresh bread and juices, served in a beautiful colonial room.

Outstanding staff and cute hotel to stay
Cute place with incredible customer service. My husband and I stayed here for two separate nights - one before the Amazon jungle tour and one night after. The staff was friendly and professional from check in to check out. On our second night, a taxi driver stole my cell phone. He dropped us off and after ten minutes came back to the front lobby with two other men demanding money from us for the phone. My husband gave him 2 soles then said he was going to the room to get more. He came back to the room and called the front desk to tell them we didn't feel safe and we're not planning to come back out to the lobby. The man at the front desk, Freddy, convinced them to leave peacefully and called us with an update, saying "don't worry they're gone. We are here for you." We thought it was going to get violent and were SO relieved to hear this. If you are looking for a cute place with personality in the decor, a great breakfast and view, and exceptional customer service, you'll love Época.

Great hotel
The staff are really nice - all of them! It is like living with a family. The location is great too and near a grocery store. The air conditioner was on and ready when I arrived which was great as it was a hot day. I enjoyed my stay will definitely stay there again if I return.

great location and walkable to places
the best part of the hotel is its staff - super friendly and helpful. It was great that they will pick you up for free upon arrival especially when it is your first time there. Upon first entry into the room, the rush of cold air from the air conditioner was very welcoming. It was all set up ready for me and I greatly appreciate it given the warm weather. The only funny thing is the breakfast where you can choose scrambled eggs with bacon or fried eggs. If you choose the latter, they will give you with fried eggs without the slice of bacon. If you want the bacon, then you get only one fried egg. The portion of the breakfast is enough for one person but I just thought it was funny about the trade-off. You need to ask them to heat up the coffee and even when adding the hot water to the lukewarm expresso, it is generally not hot enough for people who are used to US version of hot coffee. Besides these little things, I love the hotel and the people there. If I return, I will surely stay there again.

Charming, quiet, clean, and well-situated
It was a pleasure to stay at the Epoca for three nights - the hotel is old but well-maintained, and extremely clean. The room was fantastic (there was even an extra loft bed!), clean, and quiet, and the provided free breakfasts were delicious. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly (especially Miguel and Richard). I was also able to get laundry done for a reasonable price. The one downside was that the transfer from the airport was included, but the transfer back to the airport was not (but was also reasonably priced). It was conveniently located right on the boardwalk, and easy to get to and from. I will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Iquitos!

Very nice hotel close to the historic district.
The staff was extremely helpful and courteous and most were fluent in English. It was a historical hotel but renovated to include the amenities. Easy to walk to sites and "Motor taxis" were always available when needed.

This hotel by far beats out any in Iquitos for value, cleanliness, and style. The rooms are clean and comfortable (and they don't smell like mildew, a major plus for Iquitos). The hotel is also very quiet, another rarity for Iquitos. It's half the cost of any comparable hotel in the area, and the only place I'll stay on my way in and out of the jungle.

Great hotel as a base for exploring the amazon
Great centrally located hotel, just minutes walk from the town centre and located on a quieter street. The staff are what make this hotel so fantastic. They are friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are comfortable and very well cared for. I had a great experience.

Caught in a hurricane in Iquitos !
Booked to stay 4 nights in this lovely old, historic building which is now a hotel, however left after 2 nights due to the power being down after a hurricane Unfortunately we took the decision to check out as the power was not back up at lunch the day after - not the hotels fault, but regrettably they did not have a back up generated like a lot of other businesses in Iquitos We walked passes later in the day and it was back up, but in 30c it was a risk we could not take

Beautiful historical building & tasty breakfast
Highly recommended hotel for many reasons; location, friendly service, great old building with character, good WiFi, and tasty breakfast. Neyva and all the staff were very friendly and professional. The kept my extra bag while I traveled by slow cargo boat to the border with Brazil and Colombia. Then were VERY helpful when I had to cancel a reservation after the fast boat back to Iquitos was delayed a day. Great location right on the riverside in a preserved historic building right on the riverside walkway and walking distance to Belén and supermarket Los Portales for shopping. WiFi worked well and the breakfast on 2nd floor overlooking the water and street is very nice. Don't miss the restaurant-bar LA GOTA FRÍA - near the Museo Barco Histórico for its riverside location and tasty chicharron y ceviche. I'll definitely stay at Época next visit to Iquitos and recommendation that you do too!

Quiet hotel near everything
The staff were very helpful with everything, showing us on a map where we wanted to go, and, gave recommendations for good restaurants. When I contacted them about my flight arrival time (midnight), they offered to arrange for a taxi to collect me from the airport, which I made use of, as soon as we arrived at the hotel, the staff came out to help with our luggage, had the key ready and showed to our room. The hotel was very convenient to everywhere in Iquitos, but was also quiet, with views of the river while having breakfast.

I did not expect a five star hotel in Iquitos but the Epoca was very poor. The wash basin had only cold water, the shower was impossible to regulate. It was either scaldingly hot or surprisingly cold. On one day there was no hot water. The bathroom was very small and not too clean. The internet was poor or often unavailable. The breakfast was shameful. The final point is that they mention the free airport shuttle. They do not say that it is one way and that the return must be paid for. The cost is only seven dollars but I find this less than honest.

Kostenlose Flughafentransfer: ich habe eine schriftliche Bestätigung für den Transfer per Mail erhalten, aber am Tag kein Fahrer am Flughafen. Ich habe das Hotel angerufen, und das Hotel sagte den Taxigebühr zu bezahlen. Internationale Roaming für den Anruf kostet mehr als Taxi. Frühstück: Kellner hat eine Kaffeekanne ohne Kaffeetasse mitgebraucht. dann Toast ohne Jam oder Butter. Ich dachte, dass er sofort damit zurückkommt, aber er hat einen anderen Tisch aufgeräumt. Ich musste zweimal ihn gebeten, Kaffeetasse, Jam, Butter mitzubringen. Sehr unangenehm. Das ist nicht bei meinem Tisch. andere Gäste hatten keine Kaffeetasse.

L’hôtel Epoca est un Hôtel simple, sympathique, situé dans un quartier calme et propre pour cette ville. Il y a peu de risque d'agression dans ce quartier. L’hôtel est propre, le service est affable, ainsi que son hygiène. Il fait parti des "monuments" de la ville, lié a l'époque de l'exploitation de l'hévéa /caoutchouc. De nombreuses photos retracent cette époque et donne un cachet à cet Hôtel. Ce n'est pas un 5 étoiles, mais c'est pour cela que c'est agréable, on se sent mieux intégré dans la nature... Déjeuner sur le balcon avec vue sur l'Amazone , ou un ses affluent/confluent... Très joli.

bon hôtel avant un séjour en Amazonie
Hôtel où j'ai passé une nuit avant de prendre l'avion pour Lima. Bon rapport qualité-prix, avec en prime la navette vers l'aéroport gratuite ! Pas testé par contre le petit déjeuner pour cause de départ très matinal.
