"Comfortable stay "
The only negative comment is the free WiFi, we couldn't get it in the room. Comfortable bed, plenty of food for breakfast.

"Work in a Foreign Land"
I regularly visit Inverness for work purposes and would normally stop closer to the town centre; however, on this occasion the available accommodation was minimal. The Dolphin Bay Suites was one of the few remaining places and I must admit I was very surprised and pleased with the rooms and facilities (more TVs than I have at home). I actually tried to book the same place the following week but, not surprisingly, they were all booked. I arrived late evening after the owners had left for the day but, unlike some other reports, I found the attentive nature and instructions for gaining access to my suite very straight forward. I had to make a call over the wifi code which was resolved quickly. There was even some milk in the fridge to allow that late night cup of tea until some other provisions were obtained. I would be seeking these suites out if I visited the area on a holiday, especially with a family, as there are good local facilities.

"Kingsmill Hotel excellent"
We stayed at he hotel for three nights. From the moment we arrived at the hotel reception we were impressed with the friendly and efficient service. The room that we were given is in a set of rooms in the annex which are called Garden rooms. The room was an excellent modern addition to the hotel. Do not be put of by the term "annex". On our next visit it will be our first choice: the plus is the absolute quietness and the ambience of the garden area. Of course if it pouring with rain you would have to walk the 30 yards to the main building for dinner or whatever. Location is away from the town centre but the parking at the hotel is extensive. Also, the hotel is about 5 minutes from the main road north, the A9. To emphasis the excellent service we received, we had one little problem to report to reception and they fixed it instantly. Food and restaurant service was again excellent. On our visit, in the Friday evening we listened to the Jazz piano: the piano player's performance was a delight!

Glenmoriston Townhouse Hotel

"Great location. Some restaurant glitches."
We stayed at the Glenmoriston Town House Hotel about 15 years ago - then stayed there when visiting Inverness again a few weeks ago. It has been substantially renovated since our last visit and is now a top-notch hotel, very comfortable, and with a fabulous location right on the water and just a block or two from the city centre. The hotel spans two adjacent buildings; our room this time was in the second building (next to the one with reception and the restaurant), and we appreciated how much quieter is was than when we stayed in the reception/restaurant building 15 years ago. Our room was on the small side, but very comfortable. There is ample free parking for hotel guests adjacent to and behind the hotel, which was nice. There were just a few weird things worth mentioning. First, the reception lobby is decorated with fresh lilies - and the smell is absolutely overwhelming. We asked one of the staff about it, and she explained that the hotel's owners love lilies. I recommend taking a deep breath before entering the lobby. Second, we ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and found the service to be fairly shoddy at both meals - errors in our order, dishes brought to us out of sequence, long waits between courses, and having difficulty getting our servers' attention. The food was pretty good - but, after waiting 15 minutes for a breakfast menu, we were ready to throw in the towel and go elsewhere for our meals.

Pocket Guide: Inverness, Scottish Highlands Adventure Sport Hotels

Inverness is the most northerly city in the British Isles and lies in the heart of the vast Scottish Highlands. Ness Islands Walk takes visitors upstream from the city centre, where the cathedral and war memorial can be spotted on the approach to the small islands in the middle of the river. Inverness is a great base for exploring; the city is around 21 km from the shores of the renowned Loch Ness.
