Visit the Town of Inverary
The town of Inverary has stood above the pristine waters of Loch Fyne since it was founded by the third Duke of Argyll in 1745. Inverary is one of the country’s best examples of a traditional Georgian county town, and features a few important historical sites as well, including the Neoclassical church, along with the Inverary Jail and Courthouse, which has been converted into a museum documenting jail conditions since medieval times. Just outside of town visitors will also discover Inverary Castle, a late 18th century building that is the current home of the Duke of Argyll.
