I was hasty with my first review having mentioned that the rooms were small, dated and dirty. This still stands, however, when going down to breakfast, we were made to feel guilty and unwelcome. We woke up late, and got down to breakfast at 9:45 (breakfast is served until 10) and the staff were already packing up. We apologised and asked if breakfast was still being served (at this point we offered not to put them out if it was too late) and they said it wasn’t a problem and offered us a seat. It wasn’t until the waitress brought out our cooked breakfast that she felt obliged to mention that breakfast was served between 8:30 - 10 - it was the way in which she felt she had to word it that made us feel most guilty, again, we already offered not to put them out and would have happily gone elsewhere had this been the case. My partner felt really guilty and unwelcome that we couldn’t have eaten and left any quicker. Don’t get me wrong, the rest of the staff; checking in, checking out etc were polite and everything you could expect from a hotel but this really lowered our perception of the hotel.

I really wanted to like this place after seeing it on Hotel Inspector but I'm afraid it fell short. Everything was "ok", room and bathroom were clean. There was only one socket that we could use in the room as the other was up near the ceiling. Would have needed a ladder to access it. Was looking forward to breakfast as the reviews were pretty good but black pudding and fried bread were inedible, black pudding shot of the plate when I tried to cut it. Poached egg was hard so gave up on it. Genuinely sorry, but cannot recommend.

This was my first time staying at this hotel and I believe I made an excellent choice. It is exceptionally good value for money, with friendly and professional staff who also know the local area very well. It has just been refurbished and the rooms were very clean, bright and spacious with a sleek modern feel.

Great hotel for the price.Staff were very good. It hasn't got the best showers in the world but it's an aging building so as expected not a bad view from top floor room. To sum up a bargain hotel for the prices charged great staff 5 mins drive from amazing beech at Woolacombe where hotels cost up to 10 times more!!

Clean and tidy but bed was very uncomfortable- mattress needs replacing and the duvet was far too small for the bed

Dear Guest, All our beds and mattresses have been checked and replaced at the beginning of the year, and have their appropriate new duvet too. Nonetheless we will double check. Regards,

A room too far

Posted 24-Sep-2018 on Hotels
The hotel was as expected. The only complaint I would have is that we paid a bit extra for a superior room (which was very nice) but it was on the top floor and the lift was out of order and I struggled to reach our room

Dear Andy, Thank you for your nice comment. Or superior rooms have nice views therefore they are on the top floor. Waiting to see you again, Regards,
