Fantastic location, friendly staff, beautiful beer garden, lovely food, hearty breakfast - a real find! Great place to explore the area Winchelsea is picture postcard stuff and so historically interesting (the Saturday Cellar Tour and St Thomas's Church were a joy in themselves) and the local coffee shop has the best sausage rolls that we had ever tried. I only recommend something if I would do it again and in this case I do.

A building with character costs far more to refurbish and maintain. For example, the skirting boards had all to be cut to fit the sloping floors; some of the door frames were wonky for the same reason.

We loved staying at the New Inn and would love to return. We were especially impressed that there were vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, the food was great.

Great room & food. Only downside was the shower had only temperature control and no flow/pressure control and with great water pressure it was like showering under a fire hose.

Good accommodation and food

Pros: The food, easy to get into Rye by leaving car in pub car park and getting 5 min bus from outside the pub.
Cons: Maybe the staff could be a little friendlier to residents in the bar in the evening. I noticed one of them serving the locals repeatedly first
Location: Rye nearby. Country pub in a quiet village. Good as a base.
Nice old country pub. Basic but comfortable rooms, good food. Interesting village close to Rye. Leave car in car park and get bus to Rye to save trying to park there! 5 min away. Staff generally friendly.

Pros: The staff, situation and. Dry happy ambience
Cons: See above
Location: Wonderful sight seeing opportunities as well as the sea
A very happy stay was RUINED by the temperature in our bedroom No 5 which should not have been let out as it was immediately above kitchen and ventilators facing SW with temp overnight of 30degrees ++ which we couldn't control even with the extra fan we were kindly offered. We have complained to Expedia as we could not sleep and left after 2 nights out of 3. The staff did their utmost to help, particularly Sarah the manager. We would recommend this to others but warning them of room no5 .

Nice large room, good shower and nice to have a seettee, felt at home straight away. No separate reception area made it seem a bit strange having to go find the bar to report in. Good food but a bit pricey drinks with evening meal
