We loved this little Inn and all the people who worked there, especially Paul and the lovely waitrss we had both nights. They were so friendly and very helpful. And just nice people to talk to. The New Inn is very quaint and charming. Not too fancy, but perfect for a great stay in a beautiful village and the food was fabulous, both breakfast and dinner. And we found great drinks to keep us quenched. I would live there if I could!

Winchelsea is a beautiful community and The New Inn is in its centre. Off the entrance is a warm and welcoming pub and the proprietor and staff are very helpful. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast is generous and the atmosphere very pleasant. Excellent value although shopping is a drive away.

Ideally located to explore Rye, Hastings & surrounding area, but set in a lovely village setting with lots of local history. Very friendly staff, lovely food & comfortable bedroom.

Lovely Pub
Large comfortable bedroom with a great view of the church and museum. Excellent breakfast. Excellent dinner. Friendly and efficient staff. No complaints about anything. Would highly recommend this pub in this exceptionally pretty and historic town.

The New Inn is an old, charming building situated in the historic town of Winchelsea. It has a bar / restaurant & an outside area including a lovely garden with picnic benches. Dogs are allowed. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Amazing weekend stay
We had the best weekend at The New Inn, from the moment we arrived all the staff were warm and welcoming. Quick and efficient check in, shown to our room which was clean and decorated to a high standard with comfortable furnishings. Winchelsea is a beautiful village and pub sits in a pretty spot opposite the church which is worth a visit to admire the stained glass windows. If you are interested in history do visit the museum and there are also cellar tours which have to be booked in advance. We ate both nights of our stay at The New Inn, both nights the service was excellent, with the staff all very friendly and helpful. The food was of a good standard with good size portions, the Sea Bass was especially good. There is also a lovely garden to sit in if the weather is good. We like to walk and the whole area is a walkers paradise but there are lots of other things to see and do in the area. Overall, we had a great weekend and hope to return again.

Beautiful large room in a beautiful pub overlooking Winchelsea village church. Paul, Debbie and the team were perfect hosts! Wonderful sleep, fab shower and great full English breakfast each morning. Bonus was their two lovely dogs Dave and Georgie!

Quitacential in the smallest town in England
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the New Inn, Debbie and Paul made us feel very welcome. We dined in the restaurant and the food was amazing, as was the Breakfast we couldnt fault them. Our room was quaint, very spacious and the bed was so comfortable a good nights sleep was definately had. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

What a lovely place! Paul and Debbie welcomed us to their place. Friendly and open. Locals all very friendly. They had cleverly bolted 2 single beds together to make a super huge bed. So comfortable. Complimentary cooked breakfast indeed a welcome surprise.

Period inn with modern comforts.

Lovely quiet place, felt very welcome on our arrival and throughout our stay. Our room was very comfy and clean. Breakfast was made to order, requests were met with a smile and the food was lovely. Overall a great stay and we will come again.

Best place to stay in Winchelsea

Great find!
Was a bit worried as Hotels.com description stated that towels and bedding were not provided but this was not the case. We arrived early so had a wander round the lovely village and down to the beach, and later had a drink in the hotel gardens. Check in was easy and the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and fresh with a modern ensuite. Can be a little noisy with some infrequent passing traffic but didn't bother us. Great breakfast in the morning and nice chat with the owner who is also a member of the local RNLI. Will definitely return.
