The staff was young and inexperienced but fairly eager to please. They seemed to need to call someone else to get anything done. They were kind and overall very nice to deal with. I was a bit annoyed when simple things like bike availability became an issue and then, when I signed the damage waiver and noticed that the value of the bike was placed at $1,200--I became annoyed at the hotel for this dishonesty. I know the bikes were not worth $1,200--especially the one I was riding. This reflected poorly on the ethos of the hotel. As did the free wi-fi. I had to enter a lot of personal information to get online which I'm sure most customers would agree--was annoying. Some hotels just have you enter your room number as the password to get online.
Facilities were nice, the bed felt hard and a bit old. The breakfast was really good. I like the patio area with the chimney.
My only issue is that it is too closed to the freeway though you cannot hear the noise
Every time I stay in California this is where I stay. The location is close to the beach and Main Street shopping and a close drive for other places of interest like Disneyland or the Aquarium of the Pacific. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the facitilities are clean. I have recommended this place to a few individuals and it has been a favorite place for them also. If you have not stayed here I say give its try and you will be pleasantly surprised!
Location excellent- walking distance to the pier, across PCH from the beach. Clean, pleasant room; the included breakfast is simple but very good. Fridge and microwave in base room size.
Room had vanity/washing area in bedroom, no sink in bathroom. Try to avoid a first floor room near the lobby to avoid late night/early morning noisy conversations. Staff do nothing to discourage this. Hotel has started charging for parking, which is problematic in this area. Construction going on next door for foreseeable future (April 2016). Through the wall AC/heater is noisy. Good alternative to expensive nearby resort style hotels, but with limited amenities. Feels like a small small studio apartment with a communal lobby.
