Long but easy walks to Germany & Switzerland.
I chose this hotel because they provided sleeping space for 3 in 1 room, and was not far from the euro airport.
Good parts: beds *very* comfy, room was quiet, staff spoke to us in english.
Bad parts: shower is not designed to keep water off the bathroom floor. Also they were unwilling to keep our bags for us after checkout, so airport proximity was not helpful. But the location was a good jumping off spot for some great sightseeing.
In the evening after checkin, we walked a few km north and east from the hotel (which is in France) over the 3Pays (3 country) footbridge over the Rhine for yummy turkish Pide supper-tour in Germany. (Best was a hole in the wall joint on the right, between the Argentinean restaurant and the International grocery, across from the big shopping center. Sorry, I didn't get the name)
The next day, an easy short walk west brought us to the border of Switzerland. The Swiss #11 tram takes you straight into Basel. We stashed our suitcases in lockers at the Gesichter museum and explored oldtown by foot. Museum's downstairs was full of cool Basel treasures...I recommend it.
Fondue and raclette in a little restaurant across from the museum were just what we wanted in the way of not-American food.
2 hours before our flight time, we took aTram to the SBB banhof then we hopped on the #50 bus to the airport. It couldn't have been easier.
