I did not see one member of staff. Parking was a 5 minute drive away. There were bed bugs (my daughter was bitten twice and i have pics of a bed bug). Damage in the room, fridge was in the bathroom, had to go down the dangerous stairs outside, corridor looked like the staff and storage underground floor of a hospital! Check in was a nightmare! Details given to me were wrong!! Which made it very stressful after a long drive! Fire alarm went off at 11.30pm so had to take my kids out in the rain and cold. Hotel was more like a hostel when i saw most the guests that came outside. Turns out cannabis was being smoked in the hotel! Not one member of staff appeared!! Different stories were being given to guests from the lady on whatsapp, we all were unhappy with the lies, lack of customer service, and customer care! One lady had to go out and buy her own toilet roll for god sake!! I asked to have a refund several times to go somewhere else but i was ignored every time!! I also couldnt afford to go anywhere else otherwise i would!!! All proof of these problems are in pics or on whatsapp conversation!

My recent experience was nothing but short of a nightmare. From the moment I arrived, I encountered one problem after another, making it clear that this hotel cares very little about its guests' comfort or safety. First off, accessing the hotel itself was a challenge. The doors and entrances seemed to be designed to test one's patience rather than welcome guests. I struggled to open the door, only to find out later that it's a common issue. And to add insult to injury, the codes to enter the hotel were sent through WhatsApp. no reception desk. Communicating with the owner was next to impossible. Despite numerous attempts, they never responded. WIFI stopped for one day. Then came the fire alarms. They didn't just go off once; it was a frequent occurrence, often in the dead of night. Apparently, people smoking in their rooms triggered them. It's unbelievable that the hotel doesn't enforce non-smoking policies, especially with visitors who are mostly teenagers. This not only disturbs the peace but also poses serious safety risks. Now, let's talk about hidden fees. Beware! The hotel has a knack for sneaking in extra charges. My advice: Do not pay anything extra, no matter what they say. Don't fall for it! They'll send you links to pay additional fees, which they won't even bother to check.

Extremely bad service and no one answering your message.no one cared about our concerns. The mattress was ancient and the springs are out hitting my back and we complained to 2staff members and no one cared. Check in service which we did not know about. Briefly it is the worst place ever. I don't recommend it to anyone

For two separate stays my time at the hotel is disturbed by two sperate encounters. The first stay, there was a violent fight and argument with the occupants in the room below me through the evening and night, it sounded like they at some point trashed their room too. As a result of this I was unable to sleep the whole night as the couple below me were constantly shouting and bangjng about. I reached out to the hotel in the evening off the incident by the ONLY channel via which is a WhatsApp chat group as the hotel has no in house reception or security. I was promised that would sent someone to solve the issue but it did not happen

Good location just filthy. I felt like I had to clean it, it was that bad. Blood on the walls, specs also tiles in bathroom, grime everywhere, the light switch was brown, not hoovered, blinds didn’t fully close, very noisy Bath was tiny, single lock on the door, main light switch didn’t work. I could go on.

I have been around the world and this rates as one of the worst hotels its been my dis pleasure to stay in. No check in or concierge, linen bags laying everywhere, no staff,dirty, a general mess.

Incredibly rude staff. Unhelpful and hostile. Weirdest hotel i have stayed in ever. Hotel lost my reservation, booked wrong dates so had to pay twice for another room on initial check in. I extended online but despite paying another £111 they made me check out at 10am with nowhere to go for 5 hours and check back in at 3pm. At 3pm they said over an intercom buzzer that my guest had worn a hoodie and their security had banned me and thet would refund me.. i was dumbfounded. 5 mins later they changed their minds again and said actually i was fine to check in and they would text check in codes. I waited 40 mins in lobby and noone text. I called over 30x and they literally busied and hung up my calls. I had to find and pay or another hotel last minute on Easter Saturday. At 7.30pm after id paid and checked in another hotel and been ignored for hours texting amd asking to explain and refund me, they then WhatsAppd the check in code and said they couldnt refund me as they'd sent the check in codes already At 3pm check in there were 3 others guests frustrated and worrying trying to check in or even just get in hotel front door. The intercom and phone reception were terribly rude to the other guests too. By the time I left the man had waited almost an hour at the door and the 2 ladies were stuck in the tiny space by the intercom crying. This is the worst hotel ive ever experienced. Please save yourselves the trouble and extortionate expense amd do NOT use this AWFUL hotel

The images shown on Expedia website look very stylish but on arrival was greeted by a QR code, saying to scan to register arrival and be given a code for entry. No staff, no bar, no food. Arrived in the evening after long journey. Then told that my room was in 'the sister hotel' a few blocks away. This was the 'Oggy's Backpackers' hostel. Nothing like the images shown on Expedia etc. Instead a horrible, run-down bunk house with grimy floors, stank of cigarettes (despite being a non-smoking hotel - but no staff to enforce that), shared shower room worse you've ever seen with no toilet paper and everything broken. Signs everywhere saying you are on CCTV. Clearly best for the cheapest bed for lads down for a weekend of partying, of which there were several staying when I was there, meaning three nights of broken sleep (all paid upfront no refunds), although one of those was from some psycho in the street shouting for half an hour at the top of his voice about being given the money he owed or he'd stab someone. Oriental Place is possibly the least charming street in the whole of Brighton, and like a bait and switch tactic to get people to book online for Bloomsbury Square and then actually make them go here. The wifi was called Leave a Five Star Review. Unlikely

where to start? front door lock intermittently working very small room - should be a single, double bed up against walls sliding bathroom door faulty internet password incorrect waste plug missing mattress sagging blind ill fitting cheap but not value for money. bizarre decor - faux brick wallpaper below dado level, tropical paradise above in a Georgian mansion!!

After visiting this afternoon we will not be staying at your hotel. The room was dirty, food beside and under the bed. The door lock was not secure. No lock on window. The bathroom toilet did not flush properly. There was stains on the curtains. Please see attached pictures. I would like a refund. Your photos on the website are misleading . There is no bar or spa facility’s.

Cheap and cheerful. Everything you need for a short stay, area is a handy location to walk into Brighton, and room was clean and presentable. One thing to note is it mentions that parking is available however this isn’t accurate as you can only park for up to two hours on the meter outside so bare this in mind.

Value for money. Comfy bed and easy to self check in. The hotel is rather jaded but the staff have tried to make the best of what they have with Christmas decorations and lights creating a welcoming atmosphere. Lovely position right by the sea very convenient for Brighton and Hove. No lift so lots of stairs to climb if you are on the top floor. Bear that in mind and ask for a room on a lower floor if you struggle with stairs.

On line check in was very frustrating. The email address to reply came back as none existent. Ended up with text messages. Basically, the hotel needs to make it clear that you cant get into your room before 15.00hrs. Reception staff on duty from 15.00 were very helpful. There is no lift, and we were in the fifth floor. The room was clean but the sink hot tap was alarmingly loose, the water flow in the shower impossible to regulate making it very difficult to shower without being scalded, and the stream iron leaked water. Kettle and hairdryer worked. The bed was comfortable. However broken window panes and a gap in the window frame meant the room was well ventilated! Fortunately, the heating worked well so it wasn’t too cold. I will look elsewhere before using this hotel again.

The staff were really nice and helpful. The property looks really ok online but on closer inspection the building is not in the best condition, cracks in the wall, tiny bathroom, grungy grout. Saying that bed was really comfortable and I had a good sleep. Had a balcony but window didn't open so couldn't use it which was a shame as it was super sunny and had a sea view.

READ REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING!!! Despite a pleasant stay, the property was run down. £100 deposit taken upon arrival, receptionist said it will be returned within 7 days, still no sign of it after a month! Sent an email after a week and they got back saying 8 to 14 days so I waited...nothing. Sent another few emails with no reply. Got Expedia involved and they gave me a hotel contact number which I rang to be abruptly told that if I emailed, it will be responded to straight away but it wasn't. Called that number the following day and they said a member of management will reply within 48 hours and they didn't. Got back to Expedia who said they couldn't do anything to help and to email again. I did and found my email address has now been blocked by the hotel!!! Expedia have been less than helpful with their duplicated "copy and paste" replies by their agents rather than reading the content of my messages. So, a nice little overnight family escape has turned into a much more expensive and stressful experience! Very disappointed at the lack of concern and support by Expedia

Quite possibly the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. We booked a twin room with en-suite shower, picture obviously looked lovely. Upon arrival, we soon discovered the showered door was stuck closed. When we finally managed to open it, we discovered the actual shower unit had fallen out. So no working shower. Receptionist told us someone from maintenance would repair it as they wouldn’t move us. We stayed two nights, and nothing was fixed. So for our entire stay, we had no working shower. We asked receptionist for the manager to complain to, she refused to give us any details (including her name). I obviously then got in touch with hotels.com as we booked through them - they essentially told us it’s not their problem (even though they sold it to us). Disappointing is an understatement. Zero out of ten for both this hotel and hotels.com - buyer beware, this is a hotel and service you could do without.

Property in a convenient location. Room was clean & usable for 1 person. Check-in / out times different to what is stated on Expedia. Parking was 15 min walk away, chargeable. No blind in bathroom or plug in sink. Couldn't keep bathroom window open to clear the air. Room not cleaned or tea/coffee replenished for 2 second night.

I was led to believe there was off road parking. I was told on arrival no they did not offer this facility and I was expected to park in one of the towns car parks over a mile away. The room was not cleaned, so I had to make my own bed.

Very disappointed
We paid £150 plus £29 admin and taxes for a room in the roof no bigger than our smallest bedroom. There was cobwebs in the corners and a dry chinese noodle on the floor. My partner even emailed the hotel to explain it was my birthday and we were leaving my daughter in Brighton for her 2nd year at uni and could we have one of their more prettier rooms.....they gave us the opposite plus it faced the rooftops at the back......very poor
