Luxury hotel, needs more attention to detail

Lovely hotel although I was surprised at the low level of customer service in some ways. My room radiators weren't working, the bathroom hot tap was faulty and on my last night I found a dead, dehydrated frog on the bedroom floor! I reported the heating issue as it was quite cold in the room and when I returned there was a heater plugged in, effectively warming the room but with an apology or explanation as to what had happened would have been nice. The room was beautiful, the coffee maker was very welcome but my coffee creamer was not replenished. Overall, a luxurious hotel with a beautiful room but just a little more attention to customer service was needed to warrant a 100% positive review.

we were shown a room that was damp which they tried to cover up with moth ball smell. we moved rooms and despite notifying them every day there was no heating in the second room for our entire 4 night stay. lots of excuses. only an offer to move room again on the last night! breakfast was cold. staff could not remember what was being ordered. no ability to complain on site. need we say more .....

The grounds are outstanding and very well looked after as is the house. It appears that they are currently undertaking maintenance of the outbuildings as painting was been done during our visit. What let’s this place down is the staff unfortunately most of them have been poorly trained if trained at all. They don’t know basic things. For example the girl at breakfast didn’t know what marmalade was they didn’t know what cutlery should be used as they had soup spoons for breakfast cereal. They mucked up room service orders as they couldn’t understand English well enough. The hot food at breakfast was of a low standard including the use of powdered egg Which one wouldn’t expect from an establishment of this quality. I feel the management need to invest more in staff training A’s this is a very special place and is been let down hi poorly trained staff.
