The estate is very impressive as you drive in and very well kept. The hotel itself is just as impressive, very big and kept in traditional decoration. It looks a bit tired in places but modernisation would take from the hotels character. Food and drinks were good and reasonably priced and the staff were weloming and attentive. The rooms were very big by modern standards but with the old feel that is felt throughout. I would fully recommend this property for couples looking for a quiet break

I love staying at The Elvetham Hotel, the property, surroundings & staff are all amazing. I stayed in the Court Yard apartments & had 2 nights of fantastic sleep.

Wedding guest

Posted 17-Mar-2019 on Hotels
Came with my husband as a wedding guest on a Friday and stayed overnight afterwards. Magnificent location and wonderful rooms for the wedding itself. We had a lovely ground floor bedroom in the separate coach (?) house. Signs of poor behaviour from previous occupants of the room were missing coat hangers, missing cover for the smoke alarm and a smell of urine in the bathroom. The staff were responsive and polite. Plenty of choice for the full English breakfast (but no black pudding and the bacon and sausages were cooked to a crisp). This wouldn't put me off from returning, but would probably choose midweek when things would hopefully be quieter and more in keeping with these special surroundings.

Misleading Advertising

Posted 13-Mar-2019 on Hotels
When you chose to book a hotel and as in this case it shows you the rooms, the main house and restaurant etc, you expect to stay in the main Elvetham House as depicted in on the app, not put out of the way in a characterless outbuilding, where the people with dogs have been put... nothing against dogs or dog owners. The room I was in was dated, sparse and the noise from the other rooms bathrooms was ridiculous. When I fist arrived and checked in I was told the restaurant was closed but I could eat in the main bar. The main bar was packed and the food choice was mediocre. Add to this that to take a drink bank to my room meant I had to walk across the grounds to the out building so I didn't. Next morning I had breakfast where I am told to sit at a singe table which is far enough and checked out explaining my unhappiness. I was told the description is not down to them but Expedia who own Hotels.com, but they would next time have me stay in the main house. I declined saying I would not be staying again. Special Note. Please take control of your hotels presence on the booking websites and make people aware that they are not staying in the building advertised, rather a converted outbuilding.
