When you chose to book a hotel and as in this case it shows you the rooms, the main house and restaurant etc, you expect to stay in the main Elvetham House as depicted in on the app, not put out of the way in a characterless outbuilding, where the people with dogs have been put... nothing against dogs or dog owners. The room I was in was dated, sparse and the noise from the other rooms bathrooms was ridiculous.
When I fist arrived and checked in I was told the restaurant was closed but I could eat in the main bar. The main bar was packed and the food choice was mediocre. Add to this that to take a drink bank to my room meant I had to walk across the grounds to the out building so I didn't.
Next morning I had breakfast where I am told to sit at a singe table which is far enough and checked out explaining my unhappiness. I was told the description is not down to them but Expedia who own Hotels.com, but they would next time have me stay in the main house. I declined saying I would not be staying again.
Special Note. Please take control of your hotels presence on the booking websites and make people aware that they are not staying in the building advertised, rather a converted outbuilding.
