"New Years Eve Galax, Virginia "
First of all, this was a $40 per night room, and in this case you got what you paid for. I wanted to be able to spend the night in Galax after attending the New Year's Eve show at the Rex Theater. I booked under no illusions that this was going to be a "high class" joint. It was clean enough to suit me, and while the bathroom was old, cramped, and worn, it was functional for what I required. My room was directly across from the Galax Police Department, so I felt at as if I had to safest spot in town. Parking is available on only one side, not a big deal as few people were there. The continental breakfast is coffee and juice, cereal, bagels, and some small muffins. Not a spread, but again it served the purpose. I'm used to sleeping outside, in vehicles, on boats, so my personal tolerances are much greater than the average person. If you just want a basic room, in an older motel, and don't require a lot of amenities, then this is the place. The ice machine works just fine, never did turn on the television or bother with the Wi-Fi.......oh, one last thing, it gets cold in the mountains of Virginia in the winter, and the heating in this room was a bit difficult to get to where I wanted it, so I had to get up in the night and shut it off. Still, I stayed warm. I attributed this to the age of the HVAC unit.
