I booked and paid to stay at Rivers End, traveled 3 and half hours only to be told my reservation was over booked. I was moved to Econo Lodge. The accommodations were terrible and not worth the money I paid

Hands down the cleanest & most scenic inn I’ve ever stayed in, as a seasoned traveler. Patti was so accommodating and friendly. Perfect location to enjoy all that Historical Cherokee has to offer. We will we back when we’re in the area!

Great to watch the river from the balcony and listen to it at night with the balcony door open. Staff was friendly. We would stay there again.

Very enjoyable
We sat on the private patio in the dark and listened to the river. Then we turned off the AC unit and opened the door and listened to the river all night from bed. Slept awesome. The lady at the desk was nice too.

The room was spacious, clean, and well furnished. The manager knew we were arriving late, so they allowed for after hours pickup and the heat was already on in our room. This was most appreciated since it was raining and in the 30s when we arrived. The river was touching distance from our porch. The in room fridge was large enough for leftovers. The coffee machine worked. The soap, conditioner, and shampoo smelt amazing. Parking is right at your door, so you do not have to walk far. The manager and maid were helpful and kind. All in all I will definitely be staying here again.

Super friendly staff! The rooms are very nice. My only complaint was that after all the rain (I assume) the carpet was very damp in the room upon my family’s arrival. I’d highly recommend this motel replace the carpet with LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank). So many hotels/motels are using it now. Super smart. The room’s floor stays so much cleaner being mopped vs vacuumed.

Great local non chain motel.
This was a good fit for our 2 days stay. It's not a fancy place but we were not expecting that. Everything was clean and neat. The shower had no mold, mildew, or rust. There was a small frig and coffee pot in our room. Heat worked great. Each room has a private balcony that was neat to hear the river. It served us very well. The checkin process was nice and smooth and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I'd stay again.

No frills just comfort and relaxation
The beds were comfortable and the location was perfect. Loved the private balcony beside the river. All the rooms have this. It's an older motel so the children upstairs were a bit loud. If you want less noise, ask for the upper level.

I think they do not understand the motel concept
Way exceeded expectations. Crazy clean, spacious, well maintained. Janet at the desk is lovely. All in all a great experience. Cherokee is tiny, but great.

Excellent place to stay!
The room was clean, updated, and very comfortable. All of the rooms had a balcony overlooking the river. Close to numerous local food places as well as shops and museums. Right across the street from gem mining. I would definitely recommend staying at River's Edge Motel!

Perfect Little Gem.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. The balcony is just a few feet from the river with its relaxing sounds. The room was clean and comfortable. We plan to stay here again.

Great hotel with a wonderful view of the river!
We loved staying in this hotel. We had no problems. The staff was so nice and everything was clean. We really enjoyed being so close to the river and seeing the ducks swim by.

Hangs over the river - beautiful!
What a lovely place to stay! The entire motel is only the depth of of a room, with the balconies (at least on the 2nd floor) literally hanging over the river -- delightful! the balcony is large and the balcony door includes a screen door, so you can sleep with the sound of the river burbling by... ahhh... (that's unless you're obsessed with security, since there's no lock on the screen door -- but it would be really hard for someone to get to that balcony!). Staff is friendly and responsive; location is a little off the beaten path so not in the middle of all the tourist traps. I definitely hope to stay there again!

Stayed for one night. The room was really nicely updated and the river view off the balcony was amazing! The only complaint is that the shower head was a little low and the office closed early.

Unexpected Treasure
If you are wanting a modern hotel chain, this is not for you. If you are wanting a peaceful, relaxing stay by the river this is definitely for you. The staff at River's Edge could not be any friendlier. It's the kind of place that reminds you of roadside motels in days gone by. The room was extremely clean, the private balcony overlooking the river is amazing. There is a campground across the river, but honestly, it's not a big deal. The motel is within walking distance to Paul's restaurant (another Cherokee gem). It is true that the office closes at night, and the ice machine is not available. A non-issue considering the value and peace you have during your stay. The only reason I could think of not leaving a great review, would be so that I know a room would always be available when we go back to Cherokee. Seriously, this is where I will always want to stay when we are in the area. I hope it stays just the way it is for a long time to come!

A small, clean motel over looking the river.
The rivers edge was a clean motel overlooking the river. Local restaurants were with in walking distance. Casino was about a mile away. The motel staff as friendly and helpful. The room was very basic, clean and quiet. The view of the river was lovely with many species of birds to watch. I was a little nervous about the lack of any kind security. The desk clerk left at 8 pm. But my fears proved unwarranted. All in all a pleasant stay.

Fix WiFi and microwave issues and get 5 stars!
This motel is a cool place to stay with a private balcony overhanging a beautiful river. I dinged the service because the WiFi was not working and had been out for awhile. WiFi is a big deal for me as I work while I travel. Otherwise the place was immaculately clean, quiet, relaxing, comfortable and overall a good deal for the money. There is no microwave in the room and the one in the office is only available microwave in the whole place until 8pm when they close the office for the night.

Great view
Hotel was nice, and right on the river. As stated in other reviews parking is real tight, and I have a big truck. Only downside was lobby closed (ice machine, and manager) at 8 pm and was not open when we had come back from breakfast and wanted to check out.

Comfortable & clean, but small
The rooms, beds and bath are all fairly small. Each has two full size beds (smaller than a queen by 6"). Every room also has a private balcony that overlooks the river. Our room was clean and comfortable but the AC did put off a funky smell. Opening the balcony door for some fresh air did the trick. The caretaker was very friendly and accommodating. The area is quiet and very close to The GSMNP. The only complaint I have about the area is that dining choices are limited especially after 4pm. Lots of meat and potatoes, but hard to find much for the vegetarian other than a basic salad.
