Excellent High Class, Quality Hotel

Posted 25-May-2017
Pros: The service, luxurious feel, excellent food, beautiful swimming pool, welcoming for children
Cons: Some of the toys in the 'Kids Club' had seen better days and were either ready for throwing out, replacing, new batteries or had some parts missing.
Location: Stunning views right on the edge of the lake, great base for going on trail walks in the mountains, short walk to the centre
I stayed at the hotel with my wife and 2 year old boy for a week in May whilst visiting Slovakia for a friends wedding. The hotel is excellent, of a very high standard, fantastic facilities, superb service and great food. Rooms are large and comfortable, again with very good facilities. The hotel and staff are very welcoming and cater excellently for young children who are allowed in the swimming pool until 8pm. Toys, crayons and paper were put out at breakfast time to keep them entertained, and there is a small indoor area with toys to play with and our son loved playing in there during our stay.

Dear Ricky, Thank you for taking time to share the remarks from your recent stay with your family. I am especially glad to hear that your son enjoyed the stay with us, despite a few shortcomings in our Kids Club. We are preparing to freshen up the toys together with our agency, which is also responsible for regular weekend kids’activities. I would greatly appreciate it if you shared with us your feedback on improvements at our Kids Club from your next visit to Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras. Yours sincerely, Kathrin Noll General Manager

Everything was nice, the beds were a little hard, we couldn't rest properly at night. Service was supurb, but one thing ticked us off. When we went to eat dinner, we called the reception to ask if the main restaurant was open, because there was a wedding on that night. They told us of course it was and that the wedding was in the opposite ballroom. They didn't mention anything about a reservation. When we went down to the restaurant the person in charge asked us if we had a reservation, we said no and that we called the reception and they mentioned nothing about having to reserve. So we were told that the restaurant was "fully" booked, despite us seeing around seven if not more available tables. He made us wait 20 minutes at the bar, and once we got out drinks, they barman received a phone call that a table became available. We stayed at the restaurant for almost two hours. Do you think the free tables got occupied? of course not! That really disappointed us.
