I had a great room, near the gym and pool. Staff are lovely and the restaurant food is excellent

Unfortunately staff on front desk paid no attention to me, I was waiting to check in. I had paid in advance I just needed to check in..she decided to serve a man who was behind me standing against the wall, rather than me who had been waiting for 12/15 mins

Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything.
Location: Nothing.
Very basic hotel, uncomfortable (e.g. no aircon, pathetic shower) and overpriced. If you can find any other hotel in or near Watford, it will almost certainly be more comfortable and much better value.

Cons: The poor water pressure this has been like this for many years
Location: Ideal to catch tube into London wembley
Shower did not work bath tap was blocked when we tried to use it at night

Not what I expected!

This hotel was not at all what I expected when I book a Mercure Hotel. The room I was initially given when I checked in (which felt like a five mile walk up and down various flights of stairs) was a dark twin room. Having booked a double I called reception (on my mobile as the room phone didn't work) and asked to be moved. At this point I must say the staff member who was on reception was very helpful and friendly while remaining very professional. She was a saving grace for my stay! The double room I was moved to was a better room generally but there was no aircon and only a plug-in fan in the room. As my room was on the ground floor, and below the carpark level strangely, I didn't want to leave the window open so it was a stuffy stay!

Pros: Location
Perfect location for what I needed. Check in staff friendly. Small bar. Good selection of food. Room was ok. Little tired. Maybe needed updating. No aircon. Bathroom was ok.

Pleasant hotel,friendly staff. Only drawback need to be well over 6ft to climb in bath. Walk in showers preferred.

Much nicer hotels close by

Hotel was average, have stayed in much better close by for similar prices. Room dated but ok in terms of cleanliness. Breakfast ok, there was an offer on which made it reasonable would not be worth the full price. Charged for room when we got there even though already paid via Expedia- still sorting this out as it seems managers at hotel impossible to contact. Would not stay here again.

Not such a good experience at this supposed 4* hotel. Specifically booked it so that we could use the swimming pool, sauna and steam room after a long drive. We got 20 mins max. There were no towels in the room so rang to request some then went to the pool thinking that the towels would be there when we got back. No they weren't and nor were there any towels left at the pool. After 3 more calls requesting towels we were given bath towels (no hand towels and he said he didn't speak English so didn't know what I was asking for) but too late to enjoy the facilities. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed and the general state of the room was stained and in desperate need of updating.
