Not as advertised

Posted 26-Nov-2015
Booked it as it was a "4 star" hotel with pool and spa facilities, if you can call them that. The changing rooms are appalling like a very bad school changing rooms with lockers that require you to put your own code into but when you come to unlock doesn't work and you have to walk through reception in your towel to get the master key and the guy is rarely around. The pool is tiny and there was a swimming class on with parents watching which was intimidating when me and my fiancée were sat in the jacuzzi with people staring over as we had planned to have a nice romantic night away as we were going to Harry Potter the next day day. The sauna was turned off and the steam room was like a shower cubicle was so small. Gym you have to pay for. The food is awful and overpriced and the room is very dated. If your not fussed and just want abed for the night you could do a lot worse but it wasn't what we had paid for. A generous 3/10

Undergoing refurbishment

Posted 13-Oct-2015
The only negative about our stay was all the upheaval caused by the refurbishment going on in certain areas of the hotel. Otherwise, really good.

Weekend stay

Posted 03-Oct-2015
Basics good: Pleasant staff, good breakfast and comfortable enough bed. 4 Star clealy indicates range of facilities, but not its quality. It clearly is suffering from lack of investment over some time; for instance, stained carpets, door numbers falling off, and the pool changing rooms are in such a shocking state that it would not come close to equalling the standard of a public swimming pool.

Uninspiring. Bedroom needed bedside table(s). Bathroom needed more privacy. Toilet floor very badly stained. As a plus point the location was easy to find and access.

vile place dont book

Posted 06-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Extremely disappointed with the hotel our room 133 was ground floor below a corridor and staircase very noisy when guests arrived late woke us up our one year old son had a large single bed to sleep on rather than a cot which I requested then the fire alarm went off at 2.30am because someone was smoking and continued to do so 8 time through the night eventually stopping at 4 am there was only 2 staff on and the didn't have a clue how to deal with the issue and no form of compensation was offered for the inconvenience and disturbance this has ruined my wife's birthday weekend
