Don't bother

Bad all roud experience room had awful smell of damp and not particularly clean. Staff not helpful at all. Couldn't find anywhere else on such short notice. Booked here as had parking and close to where i needed to be. Never again.

Hotel being renovated, no TV reception

Pros: Some parking to the rear
Cons: Don't have the hotel open to guests when significant renovations are underway - or if you do make sure all amenities in guest rooms are working.
Location: Watford
The Hotel is undergoing renovation and has basic amenities. During the two days I was there the TV aerial reception was very poor and although the staff were aware the main aerial was problematic they did not have temporary digital aerials - so a challenging stay was made worse.

The hotel is undergoing major renovation work but what has been completed is great. A very nice reception area and very comfortable lounge and a lovely restaurant. They need to make you aware on the web site as to where the car park is so you can go straight there rather than to park on double yellows and then attempt a 3 point turn in a busy road. I would remove the coffee and tea facilities in the restaurant and replace with two modern machines that give you choices and allowed you to have a hot drinks rather than warm

The hotel is undergoing a refurb from what looks like 80's decor to something a bit more modern. Lovely staff. Needless to say our £59 room was a throwback and the smell of stale smoke from years and years of use (bearing in mind how long the smoking ban has been in place!!!) was a bit offputting. Decor in room pretty dated, but it seemed clean, beds were comfy and shower worked fine. Fairly noisy from footsteps above room - thought someone was in our room at one point! Glad it was only 1 night but did sleep ok. Did the job, would only stay again if it was a cheap option...

Fabulous service from reception staff

Despite the hotel currently undergoing refurbishment work on the ground floor, the helpful and friendly staff more than overcame any misgivings about staying here during the upgrade. Someone came outside in the rain to help me park close to the front door. Lovely personal atmosphere created for a weekend away. Thank you.

nice hotel and very handy for the M1 to London. Very friendly staff. They even noticed I arrived in jeans and T Shirt, but left the following day in a suit ready for work. Car park wasn't signed very well and is at the back of hotel down a little lane. But all in all it was ideal. I will stay there again.

Hotel close to underground station

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was under going a big refurb. We only stayed one night and could not hear any noise.

Staff were really pleasant. Very helpful. The hotel is under refurbishment but you can see it will be a quality hotel when it is finished. Perfect for a short stroll into town
