Our Homeaway listing for Cwm Mill is relatively new but we have been holiday letting it for just over 18 months. We have achieved Superhost status on AirBnb and a Certificate of Excellence for both Cwm Mill and our two nearby Cottages with Trip Advisor - so you may book with confidence.
Cwm Mill is a spacious, beautifully presented former water mill, set in a stunning location bordering the River Monnow, within the linear village of Craswall. It nestles at the foot of the Black Hill in the majestic Black Mountains, and is surrounded by peaceful farmland, ancient hedgerows and an abundance of wildlife.
The house itself is equipped with quality furnishings to create a stylish, welcoming home from home for up to 10 guests. It's the perfect place to get together with family and friends and we have had the privilege of hosting many a special anniversary, milestone birthday and reunion celebration.

Parts of the house date back to 1823, so it is full of character with oak beams and thick stone walls in what was originally the millkeeper's cottage. The large extension features the same beautiful external stonework and provides spacious, modern rooms including the master bedroom and the twin bedroom .

The main door opens into a large hallway with doors to a downstairs cloakroom and the impressive, generous living room to the right. A doorway to the left leads to the open plan kitchen and dining area and at the far end the staircase leads to a large landing on the first floor.

The kitchen features granite work surfaces and an all electric range cooker, plus integrated dishwasher and fridge. (There is an additional larder fridge/freezer in the utility room, along with microwave, washing machine and tumble drier).
The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need for your stay, including generous cupboard storage for your own provisions. The dining area features a large, farmhouse dining table which accommodates up to 10. At one end is a woodburning stove. All the major supermarkets deliver to Cwm Mill, and if you want to shop yourself then Abergavenny is well served with Waitrose, Aldi and Morrisons supermarkets. Just 3 miles along the lane is the village of Longtown where you'll find an impressive range of groceries etc at Hope's.

The spacious living room has 3 sofas and occasional armchairs arranged around an attractive stone feature fireplace with a woodburning stove. A basket of logs, kindling and firelighters is provided for guests in the cooler months, ideal for relaxing in cosy comfort in the evenings.

Off the living room is a further room where you'll find a double sofa bed (hence the capacity for 10 guests), plus a small snooker table and a selection of DVDs and books. We also provide a range of board games for all the family: Scrabble and Junior Scrabble, Cluedo, Snakes and Ladders, Monopoly, Battleships and Rummikub to name a few.
We have high-speed fibre broadband installed straight to the property so it is reliable and stable.
If you are bringing very young children on holiday, we'll happily provide up to 2 travel cots and high chairs to help free up boot space in your car.

The stairs to the four bedrooms rise from the entrance hallway to a large, airy landing in the newer part of the house where you'll find the master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and ensuite shower room. This room has a king size bed and French windows with Juliet balcony overlooki include a large chest of drawers, pair of bedside cabinets and lamps and an occasional chair. A hallway from the landing leads to the spacious twin bedroom with dual aspect windows and 3ft single zip and link beds which can also be configured to create a super king size bed. A large built in wardrobe, chest of drawers and pair of bedside cabinets provide ample clothes storage. (The twin room is also large enough to accommodate a folding bed suitable for a young child. A second hallway off the main landing leads into the original part of the house where the character of the original cottage has been preserved with exposed oak beams and low ceilings. Two further double bedrooms, each dual aspect, and the family bathroom are in this part of the house. Both bedrooms have new furniture and are full of charm and character, with low ceilings and exposed oak beams. The Family bathroom is adjacent to these rooms, and offers a Whirlpool bath, shower over the bath, hand basin and toilet. Outside the house at the front is a gravelled yard / shrubbery and beyond this is a large, level lawn. The lawn borders the River on its other side. The River is separated from the Garden by a combination of fence and hedgerow. The lawn provides space for ball games, or al fresco dining on the picnic benches by the fruit trees (we provide a large barbecue in the warmer months). Although you can only see the river from the bank on the far side of the garden, you'll be able to hear it as it meanders by. Cwm Mill has its own dedicated parking area with space for 4 cars. We provide all bedlinens and towels, oil-fired central heating, & good Wifi. Cwm Mill is the jewel in the crown of our little 4.5 acre setting. We also have 2 small cottages, each with their own private garden and parking, on the same site, plus a paddock. You are welcome to access the paddock but please be aware that there are often sheep grazing there so please follow the country code, especially remembering to close the gates behind you. Please note that there is access path through Cwm Mill's garden which other guests may occassionally use.

Great weekend getaway for a large family
We had a great weekend. The house was so spacious for 10 of us. Well equipped. Good communication from the owners and clear instructions to get there. Lovely area but very remote. Lots of single track roads to get anywhere. Lovely walks from the house.
